We had the afters for our son’s christening at The Briar Rose at the end of September (a very overdue review!) and we couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Abbie looked after our every request with incredible care and patience — we’re Irish living abroad, so I’m sure I must have driven her a little mad with all my questions, but she was always so responsive and reassuring.
Even on the morning of the christening, as I was dropping off the cake and setting up decorations, my first encounter with Bryan immediately put me at ease. He was friendly, flexible, and so attentive — truly the standout for us on the day. I was feeling a bit stressed about timing and food service, and he handled everything effortlessly, making the whole experience so much smoother.
The food was absolutely sensational — everyone was raving about it! The venue itself was perfect, exactly what I had envisioned. There was also a really lovely bartender (can't remember her name but she was from Pittsburgh - I put in a drinks order for 60 people and she didn't even bat an eyelid!). The team was thoughtful in every detail, and we can’t wait for another event there in the hopefully near future.
The Briar Rose is the perfect spot, and Bryan was a true gem — we are so grateful for such a wonderful experience! Thank you! Olive (the...
Read moreWent inside because it said steakhouse bar & grill outside. First dissapointing thing happened while ordering drinks: I asked what beers you've got and after waiter mentioned Smithwicks I asked if they have pale ale, to which he nodded in confirmation, and I ordered Smithwicks Pale Ale and my wife wanted Red one. So she tried to confirm the he had it right one was Pale other would be Red, waiter laughs behind his mask (covid19) like obviously he knows what are we talking about to ignore the fact that woman is explaining him difference between beers. ..differnt waiter serves us two identical Red Smithwicks pints to which I react nicely explaining that we wanted one Smithwicks Pale Ale and other Red. Responds that they don't even have any kind of Pale Ale,so I go with Hineken instead. After the food arrived I can't say I was impressed with the steak, taste was nice although, it was not made evenly top and bottom and one side was to bloody for medium. Educate your staff guys. And just to share, I don't think it's OK to call yourselves statehouse and grill if you only serve two kinds of steak and two fish from the grill. Menu is really lacking, but I guess it's better to just sell burgers and chicken tenders to millenials....
Read moreWe were a party of 5 and went out for some food and drinks. Some of us got the chicken wings for starters. They were not good. Felt like they were cooked two days ago and they just put the BBQ on the day on top. Loaded fries on the other hand were tasty. As for mains I got the chicken fajitas. LOTS of onions with a few pepers and a bit of chicken cooked with some kind of hot BBQ sauce I guess, not sizzling. Way too hot though. Served with dry tortillas, guacamole, chips cheese and dry green leaves. Hard to eat. The only good thing was the fries. The rest got a burger which was ok. And two tomahawk steaks. I didn't try them but two of my friends liked them, while the third said was a bit disappointed. For desserts we all got the ice-cream. Was like the cheapest one you can get from a super market, no taste at all and we all agreed on that. Even the cocktails were not the best. Strawberry daiquiri, was cracked ice with a bitter taste. No one managed to drink those. Service was ok. Overall disappointed for those prices. It might be good in the summer to sit outside. Doubt I will be visiting...
