The dog friendly hotel I loved it. The West Restaurant incredible... unfortunately the pins ......
This restaurant for me lacked big time.. one staff member here was really great. (Female possibly American) She went out of her way to accommodate, bring water bowls over for the dog. I can’t say how incredible it was to sit down after a long week enjoy a drink with my partner and dog by my side. It was really nice. I got the pizza here it was a good option considering there was nothing else on the menu worth getting, the chicken wings too. I got the smoked bbq pizza. The bbq was not on the base but drizzled on top? (I don’t think that was stated on the menu).
My partner got the beef burger, I think she had one bite of the burger and left it, it was not enjoyable at all. The burger really lacked in flavor, tasteless, bland, the beef was really hard and tasted like it was reheated - the menu really really needs to have a huge change up for sure, the seeded bun doesn’t do the burger any justice. It’s too thick, nutty and doughy that you can’t even get the taste of “caramelized onion” which in fact didn’t even taste caramelized not even sautéed to be honest. Just to note .... I’d stick with a plain light buttery glazed brioche bun, (keep it simple) not over cook the beef / mince, keep it homemade, and the onions definitely need to be cooked much longer to be caramelized to give it that sweet, enhanced flavor.
Before posting this review I thought maybe I could be overreacting, but judging by the other awful bad reviews. I’m not. This Gastro bar is definitely lacking in quality and the chef here definitely needs to be reviewed!
Fact : when I go to any restaurant and see a huge menu I automatically think to myself.... where is all the food stored? Perhaps most of it frozen. Keep the menu small and the food fresh. Then everything can be made with love and monitored. đź’Ż
And I believe silence...
Read more2 stars for the nice host/waitress. I had been recommended this restaurant and so on a work trip when staying near by and very tired and hungry I managed to get a table on an incredibly busy Sat night, so I was delighted..until the food came. Sadly, the power salad was so bland, I couldn't taste anything - even the feta was lacking flavour, and the same goes for the curry chips. I couldn't get over how bland it tasted and left half of each plate untouched (which is so rare for me).
The best thing was my glass of Asahi, which shouldn't have been the case.
Considering they have a Michelin sign by their restaurant next door, this seems very poor. You need to give time and energy to the bar as well and not put everything into the West as this is how it felt. The table beside me also sent back their main, and I saw multiple large groups frustratingly go back and forth with servers because of complications.
Too chaotic for my liking and with food that has no taste, it's sadly not on my...
Read moreI was stopping for an early lunch and popped in here because it was convenient. Well what a stroke of luck. I had seaweed battered fish and chips. It came in three individually battered pieces of hake. Cooked to perfection, crunchy crispy batter no soggy bits and the fish still moist , flaky but not falling apart. Served with chips and salad leaves with a dressing, and a chunky tartar sauce. It was to die for....I wasn't intending to have dessert but was going to find a cup of tea to take away after but as lunch was so nice I decided to try the bread and butter pudding with caramel sauce. Oh my God am I glad I did. It was scrumptious. The staff were so efficient and friendly the decoration and layout is inviting and comfortable. This was well worth the lucky chance of passing by. I would go out of my way to...
