Market Bar — Restaurant in County Longford

My wife and I went in here to have food, with our 3 year old son, and while waiting to be served, a fight broke out in the bar. Drunk lads shouting and throwing punches, glasses being broken and a lot of swearing. When the owner brought the menus she said "agh don't mind them, they are just having a disagreement about the racing" nothing was done to calm them or stop them fighting, they where just allowed to carry on.

They had calmed down at this stage, so we decided to stay, we spoke to soon. A few minutes later about 4 of these lads where off again. Shouting and roaring, pushing each other, and even lighting cigarettes inside the pub. While heading to the smoking area, and again nothing was done to calm them down.

We decided to leave, when we returned the menus to the owner, we explained that we where not happy with the carry on of their other customers and didn't feel safe with our son in that environment, the owner got annoyed at us, as if we where doing something wrong by having concerns for the safety of us and our son. We where almost told to get out, and I obliged gratefully. I won't be back, as the proprietor seems to be happy to have a gangs of drunken lads smashing up the place, than customers wishing to have food and an afternoon drink and spend good money. Don't order the club sandwich!

I ordered this - was asked did I want it with a layer of bread in the middle, I said yes. Then a BLT was plonked in front of me, "here's your BLT". I pointed out I didn't order a BLT, I ordered a club sandwich and that should contain chicken or turkey. Then followed a ridiculous argument with the server as to what a club sandwich should be - apparently a club sandwich is simply a triple BLT, this is known worldwide and that is how he served them in New York back in 1975! (Poor New Yorkers)

They clearly messed up and didn't want to admit it, or less they really believe a BLT is the same as a club, despite them having them as 2 separate sandwiches on the menu. Rude, arrogant, deluded, rip off merchants.....

do not go to this pub unless you want to be insulted. I ordered tbone steak 23 euro and it was so awful I had one bite and I said to the manager I didn't like it I wanted something else. I was told I still would have to pay for it unless i could give them a reason why I didn't like it. I did explain and I was told they were going to call police unless I paid. I have never been treated like that in a restaurant/pub in my entire life. it's appalling the way customers are treated and the food its well below normal standards. I also need to say the toilets are so filthy you can smell it from the tables. I suppose my own fault for staying in a stincky place. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID...
