It was a misty night arriving at 22.00 into town. Most restaurants closed already. Saw the lights beside the river and it attracted my attention. Clean pleasant decor. Clean toilets. Excellent food and service. Pleasant staff. One of the young ladies spoke good Gaelic but no Chinese!!! The yuk sung was with chicken, tasted good but I prefer it with beef. The crispy duck and pancakes were superb. The house special curry had wonderful flavours and lots of meat. Won ton soup was light with really tasty morsels wrapped up in their noodle coats. Salt & pepper chicken wings tasted great. Chinese tea and Tsingtao beer. Recommend this as everywhere else had closed but happy with the result and would go again. Somebody had a birthday and they all came out with sparkler in the dessert and flashing lights. Nice touch. Try it.

Excellent, food is very good, take away very efficient and quick. Reataurant upstairs is very cosy with very relaxed atmosphere and nicely ornate. Staff are very friendly and helpful and will ensure you have a good experience. Views from the restaurant look out on the river Moy and across to the Cathedral. Public car park just at the rear ensures quick access. Highly recommend the spicy chicken wings, one of their signature dished.

Best place I have eating out of in mayo the staff are very helpfull and very nice always trying to help I had house special not one bad word to say cant even try and look beautiful meat melts in your mouth then the view over the river brings it all together perfect for a night out on the weekend or even a week day

Completely agree as others have said that this place is living on reputation. The dry hot and spicy from the one I remember 10+ years ago is a shadow to what you get now. It usually tastes bland, soggy, chewy meat and often is falling apart but have noticed its a bit better when they first open at 5pm or mid week indicating to me they cook in batch’s during busy times and keep it heated for too long. Wings in dromore west which I have heard is ran by an old employee of the lantern is the most similar to the old recipe (but a bit sweeter) but still nothing compared to the one I remember.

Update: The dry hot and spicy has been a lot better lately and I really hope it stays 🙏 reminds me of how it used to be. Really would like for the restaurant...

Ordered my favorite beef Chow mein & egg fried rice & spicy chicken wings I noticed the lantern has either changed the chef or the recipe for beef Chow mein as flavor has changed, beef was like rubber it bounced off the even the cat wouldn't eat it, the spicy chicken wings they were like a rock almost broke my teeth and too top it off my my total for my y Chinese delivery was €26.20 I came to the door with €40.20 i should have received €16 change I told the girl it wasn't right she went back to the car she came back with €13.80 I said it still wasn't right all this time my delioush rubbery Chinese was going cold so I just had to let go I only €13.80 Change. I'm definitely not going back to bed over charged...
