Spice India Mullingar — Restaurant in County Westmeath

My food was given to me without rice, despite me clearly ordering rice.

Why would anyone order a meat with no rice? This is UNACCEPTABLE.

I live 20 mins away from town so I can't be expected to drive 20 mins to get a replacement just because the staff wasn't bothered to fulfil my order. Now I have guests that can't have food because of the staff's abhorrent service.

I have to throw the rest of the meal in the bin as a result. I will be escalating this matter to the small claims court to receive my refund for being scammed.

I am NEVER coming back to this restaurant EVER again and I would advise anyone reading to avoid them also.

*Edit: I find it interesting how the business owner replied to me with a rude and sarcastic reply after we called the business to complain - so if they had talked to their staff they would have proof this happened.

Pros - Incredible food.

Staff pleasant when interacting (which can take time or constant reminders for this interaction to take place).

Cons - food and drink not served in tandem to everyone at the table.

Waiting a long time for our food to come.

Consistently had to remind staff as to bring our food and drinks.

Short staffed.

Awkward exchanges between senior and junior staff on restaurant floor which wasn't fair on the young waitress as she was serving both the restaurant and the take away service at the front of the restaurant.

Take away orders being carried through the restaurant continuously whilst trying to enjoy dinner.

Other customers also being left waiting on food.

Some interior could be improved within the restaurant, part of the ceiling is badly stained. It takes away from the restaurants presentation.

Only one toilet cubicle per gender, left waiting a long time to use...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Spice India, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The food was outstanding, and I thoroughly enjoyed every dish I tried. Chef Thomas and Billa are truly talented chefs who excel in their craft.

The service was also top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring that our needs were met throughout the meal.

I was particularly impressed by the Kerala dishes, which were authentic and bursting with flavour. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine, Spice India is definitely worth a visit, and the Kerala dishes are an absolute must-try.
