Stopped in here for a quick bite, but so pleasantly surprised by the place that we decided to have a proper spot of lunch. I went for the mee goreng (Asian chicken satay noodles). We were shown to a small but comfortable two-seat table near the back of the restaurant and our tea arrived a minute later, with the food following within five minutes. The food was absolutely delicious with a very generous portion for the €16.95 price. My wife went for a wholesome chick salad (chicken and chickpea with salad and dressing, very similar to a Caesar dressing) for $13.95. Once again, a very generous portion arrived at the same time as my lunch. The restaurant area is split between booths and open tables. The chairs were very comfortable and the ambiance is spot on, with tastefully decorated modern feel without being over the top. For Sunday, the place was full, so clearly I'm not the only one that is impressed by this gem of a restaurant. All of the waiting staff were young, but very friendly and efficient. If you're passing by, I can thoroughly recommend this place for a spot of lunch or dinner. Top marks...
Read moreWe had the most delicious lunch today in Wholesome Kitchen, Mullingar. I was catching up with a friend who is a vegetarian and with 4 children under four between us our lunch options can be limited. Wholesome Kitchen was the perfect place. They have a wide range of vegetarian options, all freshly prepared and cooked. They also cater for children, offering fresh and healthy portions.... And the sugar free slushies were a big hit! The baby bowl serving was perfect, lots of lovely veg, potato and homemade soup. We treated ourselves to some of the great selection of healthy treats with a coffee afterwards.... Guilt free dining at it's best. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was great. The restaurant was busy at the time but we had loads of space to fit buggies, high chairs etc and never felt rushed, a rare treat when dining out with small children! Everyone cleared their plates. We will definitely be visiting...
Read moreWould not return. However, staff was very pleasant and restaurant was lovely. Ordered satay skewers for starter and was impressed. Tender chicken with a delicious sauce. Then got thai street noodles. My boyfriend ordered a chicken salad thing he doesnt remember the name of. As soon as the noodles arrived there was a strange smell off of them but I gave it a shot. Very few noodles in the dish and the chicken was giving off an odd smell. Seemed undercooked. We ended up swapping dishes so I had his main and the chicken looked pink in places so I ate the lettuce and tomatoes around leaving most of the food behind. Very unhappy with the food and although he finished my noodle dish he thought it was also giving off a funny smell from the chicken. We are not ones to leave food behind ever so this was a disappointing visit! (Ps also ordered a berry smoothie which was...
