Saba To Go — Restaurant in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown

My wife and I treated ourselves to a takeaway and I picked up our SABA order by collection from Windy Arbour on Friday 24th Feb 2023. I’ve been a fan of the restaurant and takeaway for years even during COVID when the service was hit and miss due to restrictions and staff shortages.

She went for the Massaman curry which I usually get so I went left field and ordered the squid and Satay Gai starters along with the spice box. I collected it at the prearranged time of 19.30 and when I got it back home 5 minutes later. The squid, satay gai and spice box were stone cold. My wife’s curry seemed fine. I ate the 2 starters which were not nice. The squid was rubbery and the satay gai was cold and the texture felt off. I had a few mouthfuls of the spice box but it was completely inedible.

I had a bad night with a gurgling belly and gas but the full force of the stomach bug hit the following morning and didn’t clear until Monday afternoon. Not only was it uncomfortable, it was debilitating. I messaged the restaurant through their onsite messaging service on Saturday and still haven’t received a response. There is something fundamentally dangerous happening in that kitchen and I will not be returning to the takeaway or the restaurant as the issue is clearly management based. If it was isolated, I would have received a response and the matter would have been investigated on food safety grounds.

Very disappointed with both service and food. We ordered a family feast meal for collection. When we walked in there were 2 people standing at the counter who both completely ignored us. Another person probably on break eating had to get up and try to serve us. No one apologised for the bad service.

As for the food, the kids meals were both too sweet you couldn’t taste anything else. I know it’s takeaway but I’m sure a reputable restaurant like Saba can do better than this.

The pad thai and green curry were not up to the same standard as south william street. Compared to Narra Thai on these dishes, saba windy arbour has a long way to go. Will be staying...

Ordered on the website. Have confirmation email with order reference number. Shop has no sign of the order on their system. Waiting here for new order to be prepared.

Updates: Apon arriving home, found that they had forgotten to include our drinks. Had to go back to get them. Got phone call from them a few hours later, saying they we had not...
