We’ve been to Un Altra Pasta Bar in Blackrock twice now, and it has truly exceeded our expectations on both occasions. The first time, my wife and I sat at the bar, and watching them make pizzas all night was brilliant. As soon as you walk in, you can see the pizzas being made right in front of you, and they all look absolutely delicious—you just know they’re going to be amazing. Just a couple of days later, we returned with my mum and dad—simply because the food was that good!
Finding great pasta in Ireland can be tough, but Un Altra Pasta Bar delivers. The pasta was really, really delicious and cooked perfectly, with flavors that were just fantastic. After reading the initial reviews, I thought there was no way it could be that good. However, from the moment we walked in and saw the pizzas coming out, with that proper Neapolitan-style crust, we knew we were in for something special.
The staff are incredibly friendly, and the owner clearly takes great pride in the restaurant. It’s a welcoming and lively place, and we felt right at home. I had intended to leave a review after our first visit but forgot—after the second visit, I just had to!
Without a doubt, Un Altra Pasta Bar is my favorite pizza and pasta spot in Dublin. The food is consistently fantastic, and it's easy to see why the place is always so busy. The pricing is very reasonable, and the quality of the olive oil, especially the chili-infused one, and the house red wine really stood out. We enjoyed a glass the first time and ended up getting a whole bottle on our second visit to share with the family—we were all raving about it the next day!

Read moreAs much as I wanted to love it, there was just somethings that were off about this place. Because a few small changes would have made a world of a difference, I leave this review to be considered.
We chocked it up to three areas for improvement - resource allocation, organization, and timeliness. Understandable, they were busy, but still it felt disorganized and unfriendly.
When we did speak to people, they were nice enough but honestly, the food was overall okay. Pizza was quite soggy and doughy while the pasta special was underwhelming.
Our server took quite a while before greeting us, we actually flagged down a different server just to ask questions and hear the specials.
Our server was working with quite a few tables but I also noticed he was cleaning up and setting up other tables through there seemed to be more than enough other folks merely standing around looking busy. This excludes the pizza makers, pasta maker, and bartender who were all organized and methodical in attending to the work

Now, I usually go for a super crispy base — that’s my personal preference — but honestly, I didn’t even care that the base here was more on the fluffy side. The dough was absolutely gorgeous, light yet satisfying, and the flavors were just top notch. Every bite was packed with quality ingredients and real care in preparation.
The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. My server, Eny, was simply the nicest — attentive, kind, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. I’m a very picky eater and had a couple of tweaks to my order, and they were more than happy to accommodate everything without any fuss. That kind of service really makes a difference and just added to how much I enjoyed the visit.
I also had a Hugo spritz and it was simply fab — refreshing, perfectly balanced, and the ideal drink to go with the meal. My only regret is that I didn’t try this place sooner!
