Stella Steakhouse — Restaurant in Dublin

Stella Steakhouse classes itself as fine dining (the prices certainly indicate as much with a steak costing between eur 40-46). However, when walking past it one would never guess it by the looks of the interior. The seats are close to the bar and look like something out of a 50's US diner, with cheap looking salt cartons. The host was clad in double denim. At some point we found the staff huddled down behind the bar, eating, what one could only guess, was their dinner. If I am to pay fine dining prices, I want the interior, staff and ambiance to reflect that. Fine dining should be the whole experience, Stella clearly lacks here. My other point of contention was that on the bill they already put a 12.5% service charge on there, even though there was only three of us, only to be told that that was optional when asked about it. The only positive thing I can say is that that my steak, albeit slightly undercooked was wonderfully tender. If they lower their prices I can perhaps see myself going back but for these prices, if you are looking for the full fine dining experience, I would say don't bother. We had signed up to the special offer they had advertised as a new restaurant. I don’t eat steak but I saw there was no t&cs about what we could order so long as it was a main course. When we walked in we were immediately told we only had the table for 60 mins and the chicken we ordered would take 25 mins (worth pointing out it was pretty quiet in the restaurant as it was very early evening). Despite the bad start we enjoyed our meal and had a lovely waiter. The staff member who originally told us we had the table for just under an hour gave us the bill. There was no discount applied and when I asked why, he said you didn’t order a main each. We pointed out we got the chicken for 2 which is on the menu and not excluded in any t&cs. He was extremely rude and said I’ll just give you the discount as I’m not arguing with you. Overall a really poor experience. Why have a promotional offer to entice customers to try the restaurant so that they will hopefully come back and then treat them like they were not welcomed or valued? I’m still...

Not a great experience start to finish. Wrong dish had initially been sent out and server was adamant it was correct after pulling a second server to correct the issue our ordered dish swiftly came, it left a awful taste of metal is the best description I could give I took 1 bite and was left with a afoul distaste. The main came and the waiter accidentally let all the plates fall (it happens no issue) however a slight embarrassment and further delays then waiting for our food ,The table was due back at 19:30 the waiter made us aware of and by the time we got our main it was 19:13 we had to literally rush a meal to give the table back over continuous faults of the restaurant and no discounts or apologies offered we were just ushered out for the table to be used. Ruined my partners and i anniversary meal would never come here again. Spent over €100 here we would have got better service...
