Update 2025: I have to knock a star off unfortunately from my recent experiences. Both takeaway and dine in have dropped in quality. The sushi I got to take home recently was not fresh - brown avocado and very overcooked, dry tamago. When we ate in the restaurant last week my tofu teriyaki was delicious, but my mother's noodles really over promised and under delivered in terms of the ingredients and presentation. Noodles themselves were tasty but the meats and vegetables were bland and minimal. It wasn't a bad meal but it definitely did not stand up to the first few times I ate at Sushida.
2024: No exaggeration this is the best meal I've had in the last two years in a restaurant, and without doubt the best Japanese food I've had in Ireland. The service is friendly and discrete, the atmosphere is cozy and beautiful. The menu truly has a diverse selection without sacrificing quality. So many great options for vegetarians including numerous sushi choices, soup, Japanese tapas and most exciting of all a number of main courses to choose from unlike many restaurants which only have one vegetarian option. I had the tofu teriyaki and it was SUPERB. Special mention for their avocado and asparagus nigiri - both were perfection.
I cannot wait to go back with friends and family - this is the kind of place you come up with a special occasion just so you can have an excuse to go back to!
Prices are excellent too. For my starter (2 kinds of nigiri), teriyaki main (which comes with steamed rice & fab vegetables that have that special smoky wok flavour, and a delicious miso soup) and a small bottle of sake it was only 30 euro - a steal. Thanks to the reasonable prices I will be back often.
Perfect place to pop in after a film at the Stella or the Omniplex!
Thank you to all the staff for our perfect Valentine's Day meal! You have a lot to be proud of with...
Read moreNever order from this place ever. Placed an order through Deliveroo for Sushi. Decent amount of food and a normal price for sushi. After an hour it wasn't yet delivered. Had to call a different Branch to get through, as they have no number listed. They would not give me an actual number, but called me back from the Rathmines branch. At this point they told me the wait is still 25 minutes. They also told me that the food had been sitting out and waiting for a driver. Raw fish had been sitting out of cooling for an hour now and would still have to wait for delivery. At this point my wife took over the phone and told them that's actually a health code violation. They got angry with her, told her that if we wanted it made fresh it would take an additional hour and shouted they weren't going to bother and refund us. No food, hour and a half wasted and a Friday night in rough times ruined. Don't touch these people with...
Read moreYesterday was international wheelchair day, rang today to book for myself and my wife. We had eaten there before and I parked my wheelchair at the bar counter inside the door. When I asked for the same again this time my booking was refused as they need that area for TAKEAWAYS!!!?? The only part of their restaurant that I or anyone in a wheelchair can access and priority was given to bags of food rather than a person in a wheelchair. Absolutely disgraceful and disgusting service at Shushida! This is typical of the barriers faced by people in wheelchairs, ignorance to the highest degree. When I asked again to clarify what he said to my shock he didn't snap to his senses and repeated that I couldn't sit there because it would be busy...
