Review for Thali Restaurant – Delivery Driver Experience
As a delivery driver, I had a very disappointing experience at Thali Restaurant. I went in to pick up an order and provided the manager with the order number. He told me the order wasn’t ready, which is understandable—but when I asked how long it would take, he refused to give me any estimate. I explained that I needed a timeframe so I could decide whether to wait or cancel the order, and he told me, very bluntly, that since it was a Just Eat order, I couldn’t cancel it.
When I told him that I can cancel if the order is delayed, and simply asked for an update from the kitchen, he flatly refused and said he would only give that information to the customer—not the delivery driver. That response was both surprising and unprofessional.
What made the situation worse was his attitude. He insisted I wait outside and said I was not allowed inside the restaurant to pick up orders. His tone was extremely rude and dismissive, treating me as if I had no right to even ask questions. It felt disrespectful and demeaning, especially considering delivery drivers are essential partners for restaurants.
Eventually, I decided to cancel the order and leave. Perhaps now the manager understands that delivery drivers can cancel delayed orders if restaurants are uncooperative. It's unfortunate that some restaurants think Just Eat drivers are not allowed to cancel, and use this as an excuse to delay our orders while prioritizing dine-in customers.
Thali Restaurant needs to seriously rethink how they treat delivery drivers. We are not second-class citizens—we are professionals just like anyone else, and deserve to be treated with basic respect and courtesy. I hope the management reflects on this and improves their approach. Thank you for your response. However, I would like to clarify a few points from my side as well, as your response does not fully reflect the situation that occurred.
Order Readiness and Communication:
While I understand that kitchen workflows can affect preparation times, the issue was not merely about waiting. The manager insisted that I could not cancel the order because it was a Just Eat order—something I find unacceptable. Furthermore, he explicitly stated that he would not provide an estimated time, which left me in a difficult position with no clarity on how long I would have to wait. That lack of transparency and refusal to communicate was the main cause of frustration.
Restaurant Environment and Conduct:
The restaurant was nearly empty at the time, and there was no overcrowding or safety concern and I was simply trying to get basic information about my order. The friction was created by the manager’s dismissive attitude, not by me.
Regarding Just Eat:
I appreciate that you’ve informed Just Eat about the situation because I already informed Just Eat about...
Read moreI have been to many Indian restaurants, but “thali rathmines” takes the best authentic experience I’ve had in ages! From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The staff is attentive but not overbearing, and they make excellent recommendations.
We 5 started with the Samosa Chaat, which was absolutely divine—crispy samosas topped with yogurt, chutneys, and a generous sprinkle of spices. It had that perfect balance of crunch and tangy sweetness. For the main course, we ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh and the tandoori jumbo prawns, both cooked to perfection. The lamb was tender, and the spices were well-balanced, giving it that rich, deep flavor without being overwhelming.
But the standout was the Thali—an absolute must-try. It had a little bit of everything: dal makhni, panner curry, masala aloo, saag, rice, naan, pickles, and even a small portion of gajar ka halwa (carrot dessert). The variety meant there was something for everyone, and each dish was perfectly spiced. The naan was soft, fluffy, and the perfect accompaniment to soak up the delicious curries. Not only was the food exceptional, but everything came out quickly and hot. The flavors were so authentic that it felt like eating in India itself. The portions were generous, and I left feeling completely satisfied but not overly stuffed.
I highly recommend this place for anyone craving genuine Indian food. The balance of spices and flavors is top-notch. I’ll definitely be coming .

Read moreThis weekend, we visited Thali restaurant for dinner.
Wait Time: We only waited 5 minutes because we had pre-booked our table.
Starters: Vegetarian: We tried Chilli Paneer, Hara Bhara Kebab, and Manchurian. The portion sizes were quite small, and the Manchurian wasn't crispy; it seemed undercooked. Non-Vegetarian: My friends ordered the Amritsari Machhi and loved it. They highly recommend it to all non-vegetarian fish lovers.
Mains: Vegetarian: We ordered a Veg Thali, which included a bowl of Chhole, Saag, Bhindi, Dal Makhni, pickle, rice, gulab jamun, salad, and 2 rotis. The Veg Thali tasted really good, but the rotis were too hard. We also tried Kadhai Paneer with GOC Naan and Tandoori Roti. The naan was soft and delicious. Overall, the mains were better than the starters. Non-Vegetarian Friends: Unfortunately, my non-vegetarian friends did not enjoy their thali, as they found everything too sweet.
Service: We were highly disappointed with the service, as we had to wait almost 40 minutes to receive the mains after our starters.
Washroom: The restaurant has one common washroom and another baby/wheelchair-accessible washroom.
Parking: Parking can be a bit challenging on the roadside, as it's located at a corner. However, there is a Tesco Metro just a minute away and a Tesco Express 8-10 minutes away where you can park your vehicle.
Overall, the...
