Root — Restaurant in Fingal

I can’t comment on the food, as unfortunately, we didn’t get to enjoy it. I had heard some great things about The Root and wanted to give it a try, so I made a reservation about 10 days in advance for my family. My daughter was really excited about dining out, and we were looking forward to a nice evening together.

Our reservation was for 3 people at 5:30 pm, and we arrived on time. However, we were very disappointed to be seated at an extremely small table clearly meant for two people at most. It was so cramped that even one person would have found it tight, let alone three—including a four-year-old child. There was simply no space, and it was unclear where our little one was even supposed to sit.

My daughter was visibly upset and surprised by the situation. When I spoke to the staff about it, I was told that this was the only table available and they were fully booked. The way they handled it was quite unprofessional and dismissive, which only added to our disappointment.

Considering the premium prices and the reputation they seem to have, I expected much better service. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I would not return or recommend this place to friends. It was a very disappointing and...

we were a group of 7 who on a Saturday at lunchtime with a booking called into this restaurant hoping to get lunch. We were pleasantly surprised that although the restaurant was busy, we were welcomed and asked to wait for 10mins while they got our seating arranged for us. The service was excellent with our waiter taking great care of us. Our orders came without a long delay, and the food was fabulous. We all had different food for lunch, and everyone was very happy with both the quality taste and the portion sizes. I went here out of curiosity. How good can be this little place to always get 5 stars. Impossible, need to see with my own eyes. Got there, small enough place but very cosy, and full. Ask the guys when can I come back and very nicely they split a table in 2 so we can get a place to sit. Maybe doesn’t sound like big deal but the guys did their best to make everyone happy. This is the service part. The food? Wow not only that it looks amazing but the freshness and taste, out of this world. Very friendly staff and really good value.
