Terrible Experience – Disrespectful Staff We visited Jacob's Ladder restaurant in Cobh yesterday as an Indian couple. We had some takeaway food with us (just to carry for later dinner, not to eat there), and upon entering, we politely asked if food was available. The man who seemed to be the manager immediately and rudely told us, "You can't bring this food here," in a very insulting tone. We explained that we weren’t planning to eat it inside, just carrying it.

Despite this, we stayed and ordered food and beverages. Later, when we asked to see the menu again to order more, the same man sarcastically asked, “You so much hungry ah?” — a completely unprofessional and rude comment that felt targeted and humiliating.

We felt deeply disrespected and unwelcome. It seemed like we were being judged just because we are Indian. If people from other countries are not welcome, maybe the restaurant should clearly state that at the door. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in any hospitality setting.

Would not recommend this place to anyone who values respect...

First time eating here. Had a blade of beef with creamed mash potatoes and veggies. Fell apart in the mouth absolutely cooked to perfection

My partner had the salmon with full sauce mash and vegetables again fabulous.

We had the fish cake starter with a chutney side and salad. Cooked to a nice crispy batter outside and beautifully soft inside.

Two Americanos later A glass of Pino Gricho and an orange juice

Coffee very good and the wine good quality

Total cost just over €50 for the two meals excellent value very attentive service and quickly delivered to the table and cleared away without delay.

Highly recommend will be back very soon.

This review is in December you have the bonus of a beautiful Glass balcony to sit outside and watch the beautiful Cobh harbor scenery in the spring and summer....

Christmas eve for lunch was a disappointment for me but not everyone at the table had the same experience. 2 got the chicken curry, including myself. It wasn't good, changed it to turkey and ham. A small step up. Next day's turkey and ham at home, way better. Home cooking can often be better but it doesn't say much for a professional kitchen when a simple turkey and ham feels like a let down. But to be fair, it wasn't all bad. The other 3 enjoyed their choices. Hake, fish cakes and a kids plate of chicken goujons. Plus the deserts were nice. It was also very busy, which must be hard on staff and kitchen in these difficult times. Importantly, we have enjoyed eating here b4 and will come back as it could of just been a bad day for the chef and we all...

Thank you to Jacob Ladder’s team!! What a beautiful place to have a dinner next to the sea and enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine on the terrace. I recommend the Fresh Irish Mussels (20€) In a White wine & Herb Sauce, Garlic Bread, Fries. The quantity is widely sufficient and completely affordable for the price! You can take the Chicken Supreme (22.95€) It’s a pan-fried chicken with Garlic Butter and Truffle, Wild Mushroom and Port Cream Sauce, Served with Champ Potatoes and Buttered Market Vegetables. The sauce is just amazingly good! To finish, a gourmet dessert brownie (7.50€) with its vanilla ice cream that will delight your taste buds. I wish you a pleasant moment at this blue moon place!

Under egging my rating as I selected this restaurant based on other reviewers and don’t believe it should have the rating is does. This restaurant is connected to a hotel and not standalone. The service was a little slow and the food was questionable. I had the mussels and fries and they were overcooked and pretty much all separated from the shells. The shells were also all broken which left the sauce a little crunchy! The fries were also niblets of fat with no potato! My friend enjoyed the stew which he said was really pleasant. We were never asked how the meal was despite leaving a full plate and we decided to leave to an alternative restaurant to have desert which brought up our mood.
