Nice spot inside the Commodore Hotel. Had the Fish and Chips along with the Hot Garlic Tiger Prawns and a couple pints of Guinness. Both were very nice. This was my first Guinness in Ireland. After years of drinking Guinness in NY, I can say that the head is more creamy in the motherland but the pints in NY are not that far off. 🫣 The staff was very friendly and accommodating. No cash needed as they take credit cards. There was a bit of a wait for a table after 1:00pm.

For lunch I had the Harbour Catch of the Day, grilled and with potatoes and vegetables and it was a substantial serve. My partner had the deep-fried haddock in beer batter with fries and salad but said after wards that she would have preferred the fish of the day. The Commodore Hotel is a beautiful Victorian building. It's in a great waterfront location, the food reasonably priced, and the wait staff very friendly.

Best meal we’ve had so far during our stay in Cork. We came upon this bar and restaurant while visiting Cobh for the day. They had seats available outside, which are great when the weather is lovely. The staff were great and the food was delicious! We had the chicken burger and chicken curry for dinner and fun on the beach and a pint of guinness for drinks. We will definitely be back again next time!

place seemed empty which was a red flag but we assumed it was just because it was only 5PM, not quite time for dinner rush yet... wish we'd taken the hint. drinks from tap tasted like the pipes hadn't been cleaned in ages. food was overpriced, and did not match the way it was described - "sautéed prawns" actually are breaded & fried, "grilled fish of the day" actually barely cooked and drowned in a strange mayonnaise sauce (why was the fish of the day hake? hake is everywhere, it does not warrant being called THE fish of the day special). also, the decor was so strange and almost unsettling... maybe an attempt to distract from the quality of the food & drinks. we got precooked pasta from supervalue for €3 the next day and it was a million times better than this. save your €80 for a place worth the price.

(2 stars instead of 1 only because the prawns were actually decent, even though they were not at all what...

We visited O’Shea’s Bistro on August 15th at 8:00 pm. We were told there was no table available at that moment, but that if we returned at 8:30 pm, they would be able to seat us. Trusting this, we came back promptly, only to be told that we had no table and that the kitchen was already closed.

I understand that unexpected situations can happen in hospitality, but I find the lack of organisation and communication in this case unacceptable. We made the effort to return at the time we were told, yet ended up without dinner. It was a disappointing experience that left us feeling that customers were not treated with proper...
