We visited the Roaring Donkey twice on 2 consecutive days, despite it being a bit of a hike up the hill to get there. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with chatty staff and patrons alike. We came away having learned quite a bit about Hurling. A great selection of drinks and I only wish that my local back home had more than one stout on offer. And the bonus for us .. it was downhill on the way back.

A very popular, friendly bar with a large outdoor seating area with cushions, throws and heaters at the rear of the building. Recently, new owners have taken over and redesigned the interior, making it brighter and more spacious. Caters for all ages and also has live traditional Irish music sessions on selected nights. Highly recommended venue in the harbour town of Cobh, Cork.

This pub is the real deal. Everyone in there seemed to be regulars and they were so friendly to us. No food is served here, just alcohol. Ashley was behind the bar introducing us to the locals. If you want a terrific local pub experience, this is a must visit. We can’t wait to go back there on a future trip.

There are few genuine Irish Pubs where conversation prevails and the house guitar can be called for at any time if the humor is for a singsong. For more years than I can remember there has been a ''session'' on every Wednesday. Then there is the possibility on a Friday that an 'auld singsong might erupt when the mood suits accompanied by several instruments. An then on Monday the ukulele ladies may just drop in for practice session, read social outing. New cooling system has the beer and stout in top condition so if there is any other reason not to visit I cannot guess what...

Small, warm, and cozy pub. I came here on a Wednesday and they had live music. The staff was great and so we're the musicians. The place was packed and the musicians let us sit next to them and was just an amazing experience. We chatted between songs and got to know them.

They also have a really nice beer garden in the back where you can smoke. Or if you don't, you can just go back there and look at the clear night's sky and gaze at the stars.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot because if I was ever there again, I would certainly...
