Have supported the Farmgate for many years in Midleton and visited its new premises in Lismore this weekend. Food was good, the plates were cold however we let that slide as we wanted to support the business we knew and loved after the devastating floods in Midleton.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed to discover when we went to pay we were told they were only taking vouchers out of good will when they first moved and are no longer doing so as it is a totally “seperate business”.

Bear in mind, All vouchers had the same name and the same logo. Just because a premises moves , should not mean vouchers are now invalid. I understand that the staff stated they cannot absorb the cost of these vouchers, however, that is not the customers fault who bought these vouchers in good faith. Our family have always supported here over the years.

This information was not advertised, and there was a small printed sign in the bathroom which we didn’t see due to not using this facility after payment, we were not verbally informed of this upon arrival and found the attitude in which this was dealt with was very unprofessional.

Such a shame as I said, we loved this spot , Collectively, The 5 of us will not be dining here again for these reasons and we wanted to write this review to ensure that this does not happen to anyone else and to make those aware of this before considering to...

Bizarre place. You have to order at least one main course per person or two starters. One person in our group was vegetarian and didnt fancy any of the two vegetarian options on the menu (one starter and one main) and one other person just wanted a starter, and so we were basically forced to leave. We thought this was especially weird as we had to sit at the bar as they didn't have a table for us. Every person in your party has to order a main course or else you can't dine there. Bleak for anyone with dietary restrictions.

The vegetarian options weren't great either. Just a goats cheese and beetroot salad for a starter, and a risotto for the main. Really basic and common dishes that are pretty much the vegetarian options in every other restaurant ever.

I've never seen a minimum order per person on a menu before other than a Michelin star place, it was really off putting and we won't be returning.

All starters were between €12-12.50, and the main courses were...

(Posting on behalf of my mum)

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME EVER WRITING A NEGATIVE REVIEW AND A WARNING TO ANYONE WHO MIGHT HAVE A FARMGATE VOUCHER THAT’S STILL IN DATE.

WE WENT TO THE Farmgate Lismore TODAY FOR LUNCH. THE LADY AT THE DESK NAMED SALLY REFUSED TO TAKE MY 100E GIFT CARD. I HAD TO PAY BY CARD. THIS WAS A VERY UPSETTING EXPERIENCE FOR US. WE HAD ENJOYED A VERY NICE MEAL, BUT SALLY THE LADY AT THE CHECKOUT SAID TO ME THAT SHE WAS NOT TAKING A VOUCHER FROM THE FARM GATE IN MIDLETON WHICH HAD CLOSED AND MOVED TO LISMORE. THIS REALLY RUINED MY AFTERNOON AND SMACKED OF UNFAIRNESS AS I KNOW AT LEAST 2 OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAD THEIR VOUCHERS ACCEPTED BY THE SAME LADY RECENTLY. SHE THEN TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE SEPERATE BUSINESSES BUT SHE CONTRADICTED HERSELF WHEN SHE SAID THAT SHE HAD TAKEN VOUCHERS BEFORE OUT OF GOOD WILL!!! I FEEL VERY MUCH AGGRIEVED. I PAID BY CARD AND I WONT BE RETUNING TO THE...

We experienced a lovely relaxing meal at Farmgate, on a Saturday evening. Initially I have to confess had difficulty in locating the restaurant, due the small sign, over a very different name, but when your through the door, you find yourself not in an old pub, but in a very smart, trendy and different environment. The restaurant is not that big, so booking a must, but they have made use of the layout to great effect. The menu offered plenty of choice and we had a lovely meal, excellent food. The service was very good and staff were all very friendly. Would recommend and will look forward going there again!

Coming back from being abroad for a long period of time and seeing such a beautiful renovation of this space is truly amazing. We had a beautiful meal and experience. The restaurant is very well designed from layout to every last detail, the small bar in the front is the perfect welcome. We had an opportunity to chat with Sally the owner, which one can see the heart and dedication that has gone into the place. Looking forward to joining again on our next visit

This is a converted pub with a combination of counter seating and tables. Worth booking as they were quite busy in late August. We had a great Sunday lunch here. I had the warm chicken salad and it was one of the best salads I have had. I don't know what secret sauce they put on the leaves but it was great. I also had the calamari which were cooked to perfection. Not the easiest parking, with narrow street, but found parking just a couple of minutes walk away.
