We were really looking forward to eating here as we had passed it so many times and it looked great. We booked online and waited a week for a booking. A good sign, it was busy we thought.
On the night of the booking, we arrived just before our alloted time and as it is quoted you have an hour and 15 minutes max with the table. We expected to be able to sit straight away but this was not the case.
We were ushered back outside to sit and wait which we did not mind. We expected great things. We had also decided what we wanted before we got there, due to the time limits. Which, to be honest really took the fun out of perusing the menu and taking well earned time out to enjoy a meal together. Anyway, there was a 10 to 15 minute wait for the table.
Ordered drinks and starters and after 15 minutes of eating the starters we had to ask for our drinks. they didn't have the drink i ordered in which was slightly annoying. A table that ordered two minutes before us, got there drinks near instantly. Starters were nice. We got the platter to share as we wanted to try out a few items. On the menu you get a Louisana sauce with the wings but with the platter you have to order it extra which is strange.
Mains where substantial enough I had the Singapore noodles which were nice. The wife went for for the Katsu Curry which was a huge let down. As another review noted its literally two chicken breasts with loads of rice and a small amount of sauce. It looked so unappealing. The chicken was dry and I could see she was not enjoying it.
I know the price of everything is ramping up but for €17.50/€15.50 for the mains we expected better to be honest.
Also the ambience of the place was not great. It is a small restaurant and space is a premium but it was like we were an inconvenience. They were setting up tables for a party of 12/16 right beside us dragging tables/chairs around us which did not help the atmosphere of the restaurant.
We will give it another go and hope it's better.
For a starter/two mains/two wines and a coke it was €70 which ain't too cheap when you don't go out too often and try to choose where...
Read moreReceived a voucher for Christmas as a gift. Rang on Thursday and spoke to a girl (can’t think of her name) and asked if they were still honouring the vouchers under new management explained the whole situation and was told that they were. Placed an order on Sunday and my partner went it to get it. When he presented the voucher he was told that they are no longer accepting them. When my partner explained that I had rang 3 days beforehand and was told they were accepting them the chap working was dismissive and said ‘I’ll check the back” came back out less than a minute later and said no, we’re not accepting them under new management. Was told the food would be 25 minutes and ended waiting just over an hour!! €5.50 for house fries and all they are are French fries, no seasoning no nothing, not even a bit of salt on them. Ordered a large portion of wings, paid for a large portion of wings, definitely didn’t get a large portion of wings. The carbonara was bland, no taste off it. Had to add my own salt and pepper to it at home. Overall I am so disappointed in the whole experience, The lack of communication between the staff up there and being told two different things in the space of 3 days, the overdrawn wait time and the food being middle to average. I used to love Eco but I won’t be eating...
Read moreWe drove up from Waterford for a friend's surprise birthday, a reservation was made for 10 people and they required a €10 per person deposit be paid before the meal was scheduled. They put the party upstairs in the balcony split between two booths so it was very awkward and hard to communicate with everyone, we were made feel like such an incobvenience, even when we asked could we move to somewhere with more space (no) and when we asked for another chair to add to the table (are you sure). They also took the deposit "as a percentage" from the over all bill so we ended up paying more because the host "wasn't informed the bill was going to be split". Who in their right mind doesn't expect a bill between 10 people to be split. It was a friend's birthday and I didn't want to keep arguing with a brick wall so I paid the total which was well over what I actually should've paid after a €20 deposit coming off, really left a sour taste in my mouth. Food was fine, meat free chicken burger was like Quorn breaded patties and my partner's cocktail was pretty small. The star is because the food was fine but the atmosphere and experience...
