I just thought I'd put this review on my page as I think the owners of Coffeecraft in Castletown will remove it from their page
Myself and my brother-in-law drop into Coffeecraft in Castletown for a coffee and a bite to eat. We had my Chiwawa with us, so we check the entrance to see if there was any NO DOGS ALLOWED signs, and there was none displayed. We walked in and sat near the entrance where a member of staff noticed my dog and he acknowledged her. I went and order our food and coffee. The coffees arrived then our food was served by the same member staff and he made a fuss over my dog and went away and come back with a doggy treat for her. Five minutes later he came back and said "I'm sorry but there's no dogs allowed" well me and my brother-in-law were confused as we had been served our meals and coffee and the dog was given a doggy treat. ????
I apologize for the confusion and said we'd finish our meals and leave, not to return with our dog. That said, the member of staff agreed and left. Then he came back with two takeout boxes and said we had to leave now! He left and the a woman came over claiming to be the owner and said aggressively, that we were to get out immediately and we were eat out remaining food and drinks outside. (there were no chairs and tables set up out side). To ease the situation my brother-in-law took the dog out whilst I finished my meal. We were both upset with the way it's was handled. I finished my meal and asked the owner not to remove my brother-in-laws food as he will now come back in to complete he's meal. the owner said I was to leave and I wasn't allowed back again. I said I thought she'd had handle the situation in a pathetic way and she could of handle the situation in much better and polite way. I went out to the front to allow my brother-in-law to go back in to finish he's meal. Just then three men came out and one of them squared up to me saying I'd been rude to he's wife. I explained what I said and two of three men became very threating, say he'd tip my remaining coffee over my head and knock my head off. He then went on to abuse my brother-in-law by making homophobic comments, asking him was he my wife, and then implied that we were gay. (how that has any relationship to the situation, I don't?)
This is a total disgrace, and this sort of customer service, does our island's reputation a great deal of damage.
We could of been visiting the island and I for one think that if this is level of customer service then maybe it's time to call it a day. The food may be nice but without manners what's the point. Needless say to I won't be recommending this coffee house to dog's and members of the LBGT...
Read morePlease be careful visiting here. We had a lovely coffee outside and enjoyed our time here when it took a sharp turn. We had milk spilt on us when the table was cleared and when requesting tissue paper to dry us the manager called us rude and raised her voice at us in front of the entire cafe. Made us out as the ones to blame because apparently the waitress has a chronic condition (we obviously had no idea of this and doubt it was relevant to providing us tissue paper). We also have chronic illnesses and have no issue with that and we have sympathy for how difficult it is. What was odd was how we were treated after saying what happened and asking for tissue paper to mop up our pants. Why go into instant attack mode? We never raised our voice, called someone names or demanded anything, just a calm request for tissue paper.
I would suggest the manager seeks counselling for anger management or other crisis help to...
Read moreI've been here a few times. It's a locally run small business inside the town square of Castletown. Cute quaint cafe, with plenty of seating. You enter the main doors which lead to the gym, but turn left instead. You can't miss it. But just in case it shows it on the map further down, it's actually in the corner unit building. Food, soups and sandwiches, desserts, coffee and drinks assortment galore, etc. In the summer there's lovely outdoor seating too. Run nicely with exceptional service from what I've experienced. Whether you're wanting to sit in or take away whilst walking around the area, this place has got you covered. ♿ Accessible access as it's on the ground floor with level...
