Tarbush Cafe & Restaurant — Restaurant in Haifa

We were looking for a shady and breezy place in a very hot late morning where we could have cool drinks. All the other places were crowded and frankly the heat didn't encourage us to keep walking, so we went to this new restaurant / café and ordered 🍧ice cream. Two regular three- scoop ice creams without any fancy toppings or chocolate sauce. The place was empty, just the two of us. I can't say the ice cream wasn't OK, it was just a plain one. No imagination whatsoever, a simple unadorned ice cream. Afterwards I asked for a Turkish coffee which they didn't have. An Arabic restaurant inserted in the most typical Arabic neighborhood in Haifa that doesn't serve Turkish coffee!!! So you can understand why the place was completely empty. It's a shame because it's not an unappealing spot, the waitress was alright although rather indifferent but you could say the reason why she wasn't too motivated... I really wish them luck, they are going to need it if they want to keep the...

So this is a mixed review. mostly for non Hebrew or Arabic speakers. The location is 5 stars. The ambience is great, and the setting is super nice. Where the wheels fall apart is on the service and food quality. For such a prominent tourist venue, there was only one server who barely spoke english. The food ordering was a bit of a disaster, and when the food came, there were items missing, confused orders, and in general not organized. The food was ok, nothing amazing. When it came time to pay, the bill is in Hebrew, so there was not knowing what we ordered. Interestingly enough, they added a 10% charge. So all in all, not a bad place, but Im sure there are better altenratives...

I’m not sure this place can even be called a restaurant. The food was horrible, uncooked, and rotten. No one ate their food or drank their 2 year old bottle of beer that expired in early 2019. Somehow we still managed to leave with a 500NIS bill. If you are not fluent in Arabic, good luck getting any type of service. The servers were really great at hovering around the table but didn’t do much else. Stay away from this place unless you are looking to throw away money.
