Pasta was very delicious and we had good impression BUT when we asked for a bill they 1) charged 2 bottles of waters though we took only 1 and 2) charged “varie” 5€. When we asked what’s “varie” they said it’s olive oil I asked for to eat with breads. When I said 5€ sounds expensive for a bit of oil, they said they buy one bottle of oil with 25€ but we haven’t consumed one entire bottle of oil nor 1/5 of bottle. This was our first time a restaurant charged us for olive oil. And when we said that was our first time in a restaurant we were charged for olive oil to eat bread, they said “you took only two plates of pasta and no appetizer, if you had taken any appetizer it would have been different” I found this VERY VERY impolite and this person understands nothing about the clients. We wanted to take appetizer but we had to head off to Palermo by 23:30 and we didn’t have time. I cannot believe they had some Michelin signs. In sicilia during 6 days we had never had such a bad service. Pasta was good and we were taking about it so their dishonest attitude - wrongly (or intentionally?) putting two bottle of water and charge 5€ for oil really destroyed our evening. I strongly recommend preparing yourself for getting a negative campaign from the manager when you take only primi piatti.
Additional: I have just seen the reply from the restaurant saying we tried to eat bread and oil for free by ordering only two primi piatti. Disaster. I have never ever seen such restaurant thinking only about making money from each client. Which else restaurant charges you for the bread and oil (after anyway charging “coperto” and saying these clients were trying to eat breads for free and restaurant was unhappy? Have no word and Very very disappointed. They wrote my husband ate loads of bread and so what? The one who had problem of stomachache and wanted to avoid drinking wine at that evening was not my husband but myself. Cannot believe such dishonest restaurant existing in Sicilia. It harmed my previous great impression on Sicilian people. But I strongly believe those dishonest and greedy people are really minority in this beautiful island.
Read moreThe restaurant was recommended to us by our B&B host, so we went there on 29 April 2022 and were initially satisfied. The food was excellent and the service was good - until the moment when an - apparently very well known - couple entered the restaurant and most of the service staff "rushed" (this word is by no means an exaggeration) to their greeting, henceforth ignoring all other guests. From that moment on, only one service staff member and one very young staff member (presumably an apprentice) were available for the remaining guests. I would like to emphasize that these two continued to do an excellent and professional job, despite the increased work load. Our already bad impression went downhill when these "VIP" guests later started smoking e-cigarettes at the table, still in the presence of the restaurant staff! Within a short time the air in the restaurant was thick with their vapor and the smell of the e-cigarettes. This was incredibly disrespectful towards the other guests, an outrageous behavior and simply unworthy of a restaurant that adorns itself with a Michelin badge. Despite the excellent kitchen team, I can’t recommend this restaurant, given the way the “normal” guests...
Read moreBest food I ate in Sicily. I had never dined at a Michelin star restaurant before and I most certainly never imagined stumbling through the door of one in a tshirt shorts and flipflops after a long day walking around ancient Greek temples. The wait staff are very professional and the decor is stylish. I'm not convinced that this place isn't run by the mafia because there were two big italian men in plain clothes wandering round making sure everything ran smoothly. I ordered a sardine cake for a starter and lobster fettuccine for main. My wife ordered an eggplant and pasta dish (she knows what she likes). The fishcake was amazing, but filling. The flavours were complementing from the breading, slightly charred exterior, fresh sardine flavour, ending with a cheesy aftertaste. It was also accompanied by a sweet sauce if you wanted something contrasting. The fettuccine was beautiful. It had half a small lobster in it. The tail had been diced and mixed with the pasta and they provided tools to extract the claw meat separately. The sauce was creamy and rich and fettuccine al dente 👌. My wife's dish was "really lovely" but she's mad at me at the moment so I won't...
