Ristorante Capannina Ciccio Bocca di Magra — Restaurant in Ameglia

Painful review to write. Lack of choices and our of season left to two choices. Beautiful appearance and warm and homely. Well presented. Great wine and alcohol menu. Reasonably priced. Food menu overpriced, underportioned and overrated. I was recommended two off the menu primo.and secondo which sounded good but were small in portion. I left the restaurant kind of hungry and kind of disappointed. Yes, I am a Brit and I have an appetite but I paid 80 euros for the pleasure of not feeling I got my money's worth. Before you ask, I am resident here so I know what is good and abd and this was above average food at way above average prices.

I have been going to Ciccio for the last 30 years, everytime i am in Italy, I go to Ciccio at least once. This time i have been twice in one week, first time food and service were impeccable, we were served by a very good waiter (Ali I believe) and we had a great time.

However this review is for the second time. Service was not as impeccable, slow in some aspects, and also for a place like Ciccio who serves uncleaned gamberoni - eventhough fried - it is a bit of a faux pas.

I know the restaurant, and it is a great place to wine and dine, but for the pricetag then one also expects the same...

Really good restaurant for pasta and seafood set just off the river aynd near the marina. It has an indoor seating area and covered outdoor seating are which gets a nice breeze and looks out over the river towards the mountains. It's also great for getting an ice cream (sold out the front of the restaurant by the street) or cocktails with complimentary snacks in the Decking area to the side. It's a very well kept and having come here over a period of almost 20 years the quality or service has never changed. The menu is only ever slightly altered nd is now even in English...
