Anticogallo — Restaurant in Arona

Fantastic food, friendly staff and even had a high chair for our little one. Had one night in Arona and usually my partner and I would look for a degustation restaurant, or some fine dining. But now we have a little one and when on our own, have to find somewhere more family friendly. We weren't sure where we would be welcome with an 18 month old. Here they managed to fit us in early though were fully booked later on. Food was exactly what we were looking for -foi gras starter then home-made pasta with veal and a perfectly cooked bull rump, with all the fine dine trimmings. They were friendly with out 18 month old, who actually ate a decent meal for the first time all holiday....

Cena in questa tipica osteria della tradizione piemontese, molto caratteristica e legata al territorio in tutte le sue portate. La location è bellissima, il suddetto ristorantino si trova esattamente nel centro storico della cittadina di Arona, a pochi passi dal lago. La presentazione di ogni piatto è ben curata e il cibo è squisito. Noi abbiamo prenotato la cena tramite l' App di theFork, sistema molto comodo e conveniente. La nostra serata è stata perfetta dai primi, ai secondi e debbo dire che anche i dolci, da noi scelti, sono stati una piacevole sorpresa. Abbiamo consumato come primo i ravioli del plin alla robiola di Roccaverano conditi con burro chiarificato alla salvia e nocciole sbriciolate. Come secondo un galletto alla birra ambrata, accompagnato da un flan di verdure (DIVINO). Per finire due dessert classici : bounet con amaretti e tiramisù fatto in casa. Caffè buonissimo. Il servizio veloce e organizzato. Il titolare e lo staff molto simpatici e gentili hanno offerto un valore aggiunto alla serata. Peccato che non abbiamo potuto usufruire del vasto dehor, ovvero del cortile posto sul retro del locale (molto bello dalle foto che avevo visto) poiché ormai già chiuso. Prezzi nel complesso giusti considerando la qualità dei prodotti utilizzati. Unico neo il costo esagerato, a mio avviso, dell' acqua naturale ( euro 3 a bottiglia). Valutazione...

Nice presentation on the dishes and beautiful painting inside. The quality of the food didn't meet our expectations though. Fiori di zucchini were too hard and wrapped in heavy pastry. Foie gras and smoked duck wasn't tasty and ridiculously small for a main dish. Caccio y peppe pasta was nothing special either, even the presentation in a wheel of pecorino felt hated and underwhelming. Highly overrated, hence the single star. The recommended...
