Ristorante Sancarlino — Restaurant in Arona

We stumbled upon Sancarlino on a scroll through Arona and were lucky enough to grab a table for two despite not having a reservation. The food was excellent, the wines by the glass also great. The service was typically Italian where they leave you alone until you want something. I love that, so different to the US where you get asked every two minutes whether you're happy, but really they want you want out asap, so they can seat the next party. The place was full of Italians which is always a good sign for a local place. We didn't even get charged for coffee and Sambucas! Make sure you reserve a table, so you can enjoy a long dinner amidst lively Italian families...

Had a wonderful supper at Ristorante Sancarlino. The Porchetta was delicious as was the first plate. I cannot remember the name of the pasta but is was with a delicate cream sauce and ham. I had a glass of the house grappa secca to finish it all off. The hosts were very warm to me and never made me feel rushed to finish as a solo diner. For the first night of our vacation, we booked a table in Sancarlino. Because of the reviews, but also because it was around the corner from our accommodation and we reckoned we would be tired after travelling.
