Sa Tracca — Restaurant in Barì/Bari Sardo

Not a great experience…

We were greeted by grumpy staff. Another family queued just before us at the entrance, the woman pregnant and with a small baby. They were sent away as far as we could tell. Then, we got offered a table as were four people (the other family had been two adults with a baby).

Almost no one from the staff spoke any foreign language.

When the grumpy waiter finally came, she explained to us that we couldn’t order pizza before 4pm. We have an extreme picky eater and in the absence of pizza, so we had to ask for spaghetti with tomato sauce, which is one of the very few other things he eats.

The woman was visibly scandalised by this request, raising her hands in the air in protest. She explained they had “pasta” with tomato sauce, but not spaghetti. We adamantly asked for a simple swap and she finally gave in, shaking her head at our outrageous disrespect for their exquisite Italian food. We were however told that the custom order (swapping the pasta type) would cost €5 more.

Then there was a long wait… After sipping our drinks and nibbling on stale bread for an hour, our order finally came.

The tomato spaghetti was okay. Everything else was eatable but below average… Fries cooked in old oil, some pretty chewy fried calamari and underwhelming grilled vegetables.

Overall, a place you could go to if you find yourself ravenous at the beach and can’t wait to...

We had a fantastic meal here at sunset. The place was packed so make sure you book. Obviously it was all about the seafood! It was one of two of my best culinary experiences whilst here in Sardinia. I had the Picante clams to start, followed by the large grilled prawns. We also had the Bruchette and Greek salad. The food was cooked to perfection. The service was friendly and the location was beautiful. Please don't listen to the haters that leave 1*. Just haters who have nothing better to do but complain. If you are stying in the area and are interested in somewhere to eat in Barisardo. You must go to Ristro!! I've left another review for there. Happy holidays to Sardinia, fellow travellers. Enjoy...

We have been coming to this restaurant for 7 years. Almost every summer.

As a family we love the understated approach and good, honest food and generous portions.

Our favourite dishes over the years have been:

Cozze Maloreddus sa sarda Pasta alla bottarga Steak (bistecca)

This year we have found that the pizzas are even better than ever!!! Thin, crispy crust, and very balanced toppings.

The owner is a character, undoubtedly. But she is putting a lot of effort into this place.

The dessert portions are very generous and I highly recommend Mirto as a digestif.

It is advisable to book, so you get the best table with a view.
