Nestled in the charming town of Santa Maria Navarrese, Sa Cadrea could potentially offer a delightful dining experience with breathtaking views of the sea. Here’s what stood out during our visit: Grigliata Mista di Mare: The seafood grill was a good choice 👍Freshly prepared and with sea flavors, it featured an array of delights from the sea. The combination of grilled fish, calamari, and prawns left us craving more. The presentation on the long plate was nice. I was however disappointed as the neighbour table who ordered the same dish had a tentacle arm more on the plate. I felt like being tourist trapped. A pity 😒 Service: While the service was generally pleasant, we did encounter a rough welcome. We were in time and we have asked for a specific table which wasn't given to us. We have received a table just underneath a soundspeaker with some non in the atmosphere fitting loud music. The staff was later friendly and professional. Ambiance: Our table was unfortunately placed below a music loudspeaker, which disrupted the otherwise serene atmosphere. The crashing waves and gentle breeze were the real stars of the show, though but we have just enjoyed a fast unpleasant music beat 🎶 View: The panoramic view of the calm sea was simply gorgeous. As the sun dipped below in the west, the terrace was already in the shade at 19h but the water of the sea blended seamlessly with the sky, creating a beautiful moment.
In summary, Sa Cadrea offers good food, a lovely setting, and a few minor hiccups. If you’re willing to overlook the somehow cold atmosphere of the setting and a non customer compliant behaviour it might worth a visit. I must say for my part that we planned to spend more money at the place but due to the behaviour we limit our dishes and champagne choice to the minimum and left of course no tip,...
Read moreWe dined at this restaurant twice during our trip. The first visit was excellent, which is why we decided to return for our final night in Sardinia. Unfortunately, the second experience was so disappointing that I wish we had never gone back.
That evening, the staff told us that the day’s special was Paccheri with Lobster. Excited, we ordered six portions for our group (two families, nine people in total). What arrived was a huge letdown. The lobsters had almost no meat, and what little there was had a slimy texture—something you often find with lobsters that have been dead for a while or frozen for too long. We were never informed that the lobsters were frozen.
When I politely raised the issue, the waitress insisted that “Mediterranean lobsters are like this.” That was laughable—first, because these were clearly not Mediterranean lobsters, and second, because their poor quality was obvious. When I pointed this out, she then claimed they had been “shock-frozen,” which was equally absurd.
I’ve been a fisherman for over 40 years across the Mediterranean and around the world, and I also cook as a hobby. I know fresh seafood, and this was far from it. While the pasta itself wasn’t bad—the sauce was a simple bisque—the lobster was, frankly, inedible.
To make matters worse, there was no gesture to make amends—not even a complimentary coffee. We paid the full bill and asked to speak to the owner. She admitted that there had been a “misunderstanding” and that they should have told us the lobsters were frozen. But instead of taking real responsibility, she simply brushed it off.
If you go to this restaurant, I suggest sticking to pizza—it’s genuinely very good. But for seafood? Don’t waste your...
Read moreNext to a coastal hiking trail, this casual lunch spot is ideal for hikers. Each table has an uninterrupted view of the sea, so you can enjoy the scenery while you eat. The menu focuses on local ingredients and traditional recipes. I tried the fresh seafood salad topped with tuna tartare, dressed in olive oil and lemon. The house‑made pasta with seafood ragù was also a highlight, with al dente noodles and a rich sauce. Vegetarians can choose a grilled vegetable platter served with pesto and seasonal greens. Portions are generous without being excessive, and prices are reasonable for the quality and location. Service is friendly and prompt, with staff offering suggestions and refilling water and bread. The mojitos stood out: made with fresh mint, lime, sugar, and local white rum, they were cold and refreshing. Whether you need a quick bite after a hike or a relaxed meal overlooking the water, this spot delivers. I’ll be back next time I’m here, and I recommend it to anyone seeking good food and great views. They also serve high‑quality coffee and desserts throughout the day for hikers in need of a pick‑me‑up. The setting is clean, well‑maintained, and...
