Short version: good food, bad service, high price. Long version: The Waiter from my Nightmares: the sad story of how a restaurant goes from 5 stars to 2 stars because of bad service. We had the most uncomfortable experience here, which made us want to flee as soon as possible and never come back. From the second we set foot in the place, our waiter tried his best to trick us into spending more money than we intended. It should have been an easy job for him - we told him exactly what we wanted, several times, but he did not listen. Unrequited, he kept asking if we wanted different expensive additions or replacements, even though we repeatedly said no. It felt like he was waiting for a slip of the tongue, which would result in another few euros added to the bill. When asked about prices, he evaded the question, stating approximations instead of answering clearly, giving the impression of "why talk about money? Let's focus on the food", as if we were wrong to press him on prices. There was also an added 4 euros "for the napkins", which turned out to be for the service, as the waiter agreed to tell us when we insisted. When we wanted to pay, the waiter tried to convince us to pay with cash, even though we insisted on card. As we left, he kept leering at us, waiting to see if we would tip (besides the 4 euro automatically added to the bill for service, as the keen reader will remember). The whole experience felt like a con, instead of an honest exchange of goods: money for food. Why try to trick your customers? We left feeling like we escaped a meeting with a con artist. The sad thing is, the pizza we ate was actually delicious, if overpriced (about 10 euro for a one-person pizza). It's too bad that it's taste was overshadowed by the bitter taste left in our mouths...
Read moreLovely staff. We had just flown in and we're driving North from Venice, we were exhausted, and we just wanted to eat somewhere that had gluten free food. We came right as they opened.
Regrettably we are not Italian speakers, but they were very patient with our attempts and we were able to order gluten free pizza without issue.
The pizza tasted authentically Italian and the gluten free crust was one of the better ones we've had, very helpful for celiacs.
By the time we were leaving it was getting busy with the lunch crowd, so we were glad we got there early.
Note that parking can be a hassle to find! We had to drive around...
Read moreAlla Bella Napoli is a place that offers amazing pizza! Their selection of vegan dishes is O.K., but their pizzas were something quite special- they were spot on! We both tried calzone with vegan cheese and veggies and quite enjoyed it! Their bean fritters (that come with a salad) weren't that good, though. The staff was kind, although ordering and communication were a real struggle, as none of them speaks English. Menu is also only on Italian so you never quite know what you're going to get :)! Make your life easier and learn at least some basic Italian or prepare Google to assist you...
