We enjoyed the apparent madness of the place but we were in no hurry, killing time before early to bed for an early flight the next day. One very personable young man appeared to be setting up tables as required, waiting on tables himself, cooking the food in the kitchen on his own and serving drinks and operating the cash only til. As a result the meal took ages, although beers kept coming and our host would disappear for longer spells as he cooked. He was charming, apologetic and took time to explain his philosophy! The food was ok, individual starters on their own were a little small but we had opted not to have the full anti pasti starter. All customers ate outside in the small courtyard a few metres from the cathedral walls and a lively square, lovely. Inside the trattoria was beautiful. I have a sense it isn't always like this but who knows, we might look in again next time we are there for a flight. Thank you,,,,,👍

Mentre aspettiamo che apra il ristorante, io e mia moglie ci rifugiamo nella bella cattedrale di Bitonto, che sta a sette metri dalla trattoria. La cattedrale è dello stile romanico pugliese. Arrivano le sette e mezzo e andiamo al Quarto storto. "Io sono Paolo. Lei è Luisa. Siamo amici di Pino" "Fate come se foste a casa vostra" risponde il proprietario. Di gentilezza squisita e di nome Amedeo, se non ho capito male. Il quarto storto, ci spiega, deriva da un detto bitontese: lo svegliarsi male all'ultimo quarto di luna. In altre parti d'Italia si dice una cosa simile: svegliarsi con la luna di traverso. Alla trattoria Il quarto storto non c'è un menù. Le portate cambiano di giorno in giorno. Come ti regoli per i prezzi? Noi ci siamo fidati del consiglio di Pino, delle parole di Amedeo e delle quattro stelle virgola sei di Google Maps. Ci siamo fidati e non abbiamo esagerato. I cibi sono stati uno più buono dell'altro. Alla fine abbiamo speso cinquanta euro, in due, per le consumazioni che seguono. Due litri di acqua minerale, mezzo litro di bianco della casa, una batteria di quattro antipasti- un mix di verdure, una terrina di parmigiana, un piattino di quattro involtini, un'altra terrina con salsicce e patate -, due primi e due dolci. Il servizio gentile, efficiente, orgoglioso e scherzoso. Il clima sciolto. Durante il pasto, un altro avventore è indeciso su cosa scegliere tra due pietanze. Una di quelle l'abbiamo appena mangiata. Si crea una situazione in cui la consigliamo all'avventore, che poi ci dice che gli è piaciuta. Tutta cucina pugliese, anzi bitontese. Fatta con prodotti locali. Una sinfonia di sapori. Come insegna lo strabismo di Venere, per essere perfetta la grande bellezza deve avere almeno un difetto. I funghetti locali, tanto decantati da Amedeo, a noi son parsi buoni, ma non eccellenti come le zucchine o la parmigiana. Quindi: cinque stelle, tutte meritate.

We understood it too late and saw the difference on the bill. One starter 8€... and some main courses 10€... We just think that the prices of starters are too high compared to the rest and that the waiter shouldn't talk about the mixofthe starters. So just be careful when you choose what you want to eat.

Mugged off. I do not recommend. We were charged €40 for what was basically 6-8 small plates with barely any effort put into them. To give you an idea: one slice of cheese, one slice of chorizo… one caramelised onion, in total the ingredients couldn’t have cost more than €10 for the entire “starter menu” Yes, the food was nice, but nowhere near worth that price.

When we arrived and asked for a menu, we were told there weren’t any clearly so the owner could dictate the price. Later, he asked his waitress for something and she accidentally brought over… a menu. You could see the panic on his face.

The service itself was fine, but the owner was completely over the top trying to mask the fact he was over pricing us. If you do go, avoid the so-called “starter menu” and insist on seeing prices before ordering.

If you don’t see a menu, don’t stay. Absolute rip-off. Frankly made our last night in Puglia abit sad....

So we came in, nobody paid attention and there were barely people, so we decided to sit outside. Of course nobody have noticed us, so my boyfriend, went inside to ask for a menu. And the waiter said, that they don’t have any menus, since they are changing the menu every day, which is strange, because you can always write it by hand or at least say it ( what you serve, offer or have). He also asked us if we could change our seats (to be closer for them to walk). Another waitress approached us, what kind of water we want, but we wanted to know, what they are serving today. She left, with words, she will be back. But unfortunately everything took so much time and we were too hungry, just to wait and have some water. I had big expectations, since they have many good...
