Reservation is recommended, though we got in without one around 7-8pm. However, maybe because we didn’t have a reservation, we were taken to a table that was quickly cleared and didn’t include full cutlery or condiments (as was standard with other tables).
The food was disappointing, however this might just be limited to my dishes, so if you do go there I would avoid the gnocchi - the gnocchi itself is tasteless and the sauce is bland as it’s just melted cheese topped with cheese and almond shavings. My friend’s lasagna was apparently good, however it is mostly just layers of pasta sheets with thin layers of actual meat/filling so it would benefit from having half the pasta sheets it did.
The desert was likewise disappointing in taste and portion size. The tiramisu was small and had strong distinct flavours and textures that just didn’t balance well. It’s like eating the ingredients separately. The brownie was good, but the sauce was more lemon than custard flavour (apparently).
The service was detached and unfriendly with smiles a rarity from the waiting staff.
The atmosphere, however, was great and felt very authentic for an Italian...
Read morePlace was recommended to us by Fabio, front desk manager at our accommodation. Walked in without a reservation, almost did not make it. They were nice enough to accommodate us (couple). We were led to a table in a cosy corner by this nice lady. She really took care of us the moment we were seated. Next, our order was taken by another helpful and friendly lady. She explained our choices of food to us. Place started filling up rather quickly with customer. Atmosphere of this restaurant is charming and vibrant. Waiters were regularly making sure everyone was taken care of. They smiled and were friendly despite being busy.
Food arrived. We were pleasantly surprised by the portion and the quality. Veal in sauce made to perfection and tender. Gnocchi was cooked to perfection topped with shredded fried pumpkin skin, the batter fried calamari and shrimps were excellent. The grilled vegetable went well with the veal.
Final surprise which awaited us was the bill, one of the most reasonable we have had during our travels.
We did not hesitate to return the next day. Same smiling, friendly...
