From the moment we arrived at Schlosswirt Frost, we knew we were in for something special. Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Trentino-South Tyrol, this charming establishment offers an experience that transcends mere dining – it's a true immersion in South Tyrolean hospitality and culinary excellence.

The highlight for us, beyond the truly exceptional food, was the outside garden. To call the views "unbelievable" is an understatement. We were treated to panoramic vistas of rolling hills, lush vineyards, and majestic peaks, all bathed in the golden glow of the evening sun. Dining in such a serene and picturesque setting felt like a dream.

The service, too, was simply outstanding. Every member of the team was personable and very friendly, making us feel genuinely welcome and attended to without being intrusive. Their warmth and attentiveness added another layer of enjoyment to an already perfect evening. And then, the food. Oh, the food! Every dish was a testament to quality ingredients and expert preparation. Our culinary journey began with the bread service, which was a delightful prelude to the meal to come.

The risotto with chanterelle mushrooms was a revelation – creamy, earthy, and bursting with the delicate flavor of fresh foraged mushrooms. It was comfort and sophistication in one perfect bite.

For our main course, the veal schnitzel was an absolute triumph. It was perfectly crisp and tender, and the homemade lingonberry sauce provided a delightful tart counterpoint that elevated the dish to...

Well, it’s simple, it ended up being the best restaurant of our trip and despite having only one star, I enjoyed it more than some 2 stars and 3 stars restaurants I’ve been to in the past.

The atmosphere is very cozy, reminiscient of a chalet. It’s warm, it’s different and does not emprison you in an overformal environement.

The service was spectacular, we felt taken care of, and everything came at the right pace. They do not rush you through courses. Great drink recommandations as well.

My wife and I both had the tasting menu. Before the menu is served, you are also given a warm delicious loaf of bread with 6 dips to try from, we ate way too much bread but it was worth it!

The food itself is absolutely flawless and delicious. This is not a restaurant to eat crazy weird foam bites. This is a restaurant that takes incredible ingredients and cooks them in the best possible way. The ingredients are local and are of the highest possible quality. The vegetables are issued from organic permaculture and were some of the best vegetables I’ve ever had. The sauces were out of this world as well. Everything down to the cheeses and desserts was a 10/10.

This chef also provides very healthy and hearty portions which is rare in Michelin star restaurants but very adapted to the Alps/Dolomites.

The dessert was also spectacular. For what you eat, the price is one of the most reasonable I’ve seen at a Michelin star restaurant.

If I could, I would literally be back...

This place is exceptional in every way. The staff are professional yet warm, welcoming & friendly which is a rare combination. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or accomodating. Special mention for Daniel for his efforts in customer service. The room was spotlessly clean & very thoughtfully supplied with little extra's which add to the experience & gives the feeling of the owners really valuing their customers & the quality of their stay. The breakfast is al la carte which allows you to select as much or as little as you like. The dining rooms are meticulously maintained & the food is all prepared fresh & is delicious. We dined in for dinner & again the service was exceptional as was the food & wine. We were made to feel very comfortable & if you are looking to stay in Merano or surrounding area you should definitely stay here it is really special & we will always look back fondly on our stay here.
