IL Barcollo Camogli — Restaurant in Camogli

Terrible experience at Il Barcolò in Camogli.

We ordered a mozzarella and pesto focaccia — what we received looked nothing like a focaccia. It was more like a soggy, undercooked crepe, with a sloppy spread of pesto and mozzarella on top. The middle was so wet and uncooked that it was literally inedible. My friends only managed to eat the edges, and frankly, the texture and state of the dish made us worry about food poisoning.

When we mentioned it to the waiter, he apologized and said he hadn’t noticed, and promised us some kind of “offer” on the bill.

But when we went to pay, no discount had been applied. When I politely brought this up, the man behind the bar replied in an aggressive and rude tone, saying: “The focaccia was cooked properly. If you didn’t like it, you shouldn’t have eaten it. Now you have to pay.” No gesture, no professionalism, just arrogance and disrespect.

Yes, we paid — because we had no choice — but we will absolutely never go back. If you’re expecting decent food, basic respect, or the slightest understanding of hospitality, avoid Il Barcolò...

We visited Camogli on a very busy day and stopped here for a light lunch. How Dissapointing! The service was very offhand as if we were the lucky ones to be there. In this establishment the customer is certainly not THAT important. I can only imagine that with so many walking past this restaurant on a busy day they do not care if you return or not. There will ALWAYS be a customer! Unfortunately this means that the staff are quite dismissive of any and everything. The cheeseburger was simply dreadful. Meat was cold and probably microwaved but there was HALF a processed cheese slice: HALF????? Really? come on. Unbelievably stingy! When I pointed this out to the waitress she simply said “that’s what we give” so a real take it or leave it attitude. This place doesn’t really deserve repeat customers, but probably given it’s position and the footfall that continuously passes by they do not care. If you are reading this maybe pass by and look for better service and better...

Needing a place to sit and quench our thirst we thought we would give this place a go after seeing someone seated with their drink and aperitif.. I know some of the reviews seem to be hit n miss .. we asked if we could take a seat so they knew we were there

Found a nice table in the corner Was promptly served but the waitress who just didn’t seem to be happy or want to be there made me feel uncomfortable as friendly as we could be ourselves this didn’t seem to be reciprocated on their behalf

This kind of made me think gee perhaps we should have sat somewhere else

However we enjoyed a wonderful Aperol spritz tasty aperitif which filled us up ..

Great location lovely views of the ocean the best was sitting there watching the world go by listening to their playlist with the sounds of the ocean crashing on the beach behind us
