We love this beautiful country and have tried very hard to be respectful foreign guests. We have attempted to learn some of the language and apologize when we fail to communicate well. We are aware of cultural differences when it comes to dining and have not once demanded to be served quicker or asked where our food is (after many, many meals here in Italy). We get it, it’s a gathering, an experience meant to bring people together to enjoy beautifully crafted, fresh food. You can’t rush that.
We have been treated amazingly well by every single other restaurant we’ve visited. Hence why this experience had such an effect on us. It seemed so out of place with the general population of Italian servers and people we’ve come across.
But here, at La Frascheria, we were immediately greeted with contempt by the waiter, right from the beginning. We were the only diners there and naturally we took a few extra minutes to translate the menu on our phones.
The waiter schooled me on how to say thank you in Italian and then proceeded to force me to say my order in Italian when at that point I just wanted to finger point to the menu item for clarity. If his ‘educational’ directions were coming from a friendly place, it would have been lovely. But it wasn’t. He had a mean look on his face and was super harsh. Made me feel like Matilda getting scolded by the head teacher!
Not the way you want to feel in the most beautiful place on earth. I suggest skipping this place even though the food was pretty good. The risk of being served by this guy (if you are foreign)...
Read moreDo NOT come here if you do not speak Italian. The Waiter was extremely rude. He corrected me on my pronunciation of ‘Grazia’ and he corrected and was angry at some of my family saying certain Italian words wrong. We are tourists. We were the first into the restaurant and the last out - the whole experience took 2 hours 50 minutes and he deliberately did not serve us. We waited more than one hour to ORDER our food and almost 3 hours til we paid the bill. Some of the food was good - we had 3 burgers that were completely raw, which the restaurant agreed to remove from the bill. After almost 3 hours, we could not wait any longer for the food to be properly cooked. Avoid if you do not speak Italian. The other tables (4 tables came in a long time after us and left a long time before us, Italian speakers) and seemed to have a good experience. We were also the only table not to be given bread on arrival. EDIT OF REVIEW FOLLOWING REPLY - this is an absolute lie, which does not surprise me at all. We did not postpone our order 4 times, you asked us once if we were ready to order and we asked for two more minutes as we were trying to Google translate the menu from Italian to English - the waiter got upset and punished us by taking an hour to return. Like an angry child. And do not worry - we...
Read moreAs English speaking tourists we felt very low priority for service. We arrived at 8:10pm and watched 4 tables be served bread, food and dessert long before us. We were waiting for food to arrive until 10:45. Most of the food was delicious, however the “hamburger” is a beef patty with no bun that was served to us undercooked. I appreciate a slightly rare burger but this meat looked like raw tuna. The server was abrasive and cold to our attempts at Italian and displayed contempt for our table. We have been in Italy for almost 2 weeks with no problems with any other restaurants, it has been good service and food until now. I will never understand poor treatment of open...
