I checked out the potential dinner places, before my arrival to Capua. La Locanda del Pozzo was one of them and I can honestly say: Online instinct CAN work – and it DID in this case!
It is a very small place with a very hospitable upbeat owner, who will talk you through his actual mouthwatering menu. Actually THAT mouthwatering, that I wanted to order almost everything!
Plus: you get some serious homemade wine here. If you never had the chance to taste homemade Italian wine, do it here!
In the pictures: Mixed starters with mozzarella di buffala whatelse and aged cheese and that PROSCIUTTO!!, Pasta alla Genovese, Entrecote and my friend wringing out the last drop of wine.
Plus you can contribute to (world) peace: throwing coins into the magic “pozzo” = well. The story goes, that a little girl expressed the wish for peace, threw a coin into the well and the “Grande Guerra” ended.

In this town, i think it is better to go by mozarella from a shop and eat. In locanda, it was a historical restaurant. Menu was very limited. I understand and like it. Oggi abbiamo mangiato in questo locale, dall'atmosfera tipica e raccolta. Il servizio e l'accoglienza sono stati calorosi e massima la pazienza nel descrivere ogni piatto.
In due abbiamo mangiato come primo pasta, patate e provola e ziti alla genovese, entrambi eccezionali.
La genovese è risultata digeribilissima, cosa rara in quanto il piatto contiene molte cipolle, e la carne era di qualità magistrale, cotta divinamente da risultare tenerissima.
Pasta patate e provola era mantecata a regola d'arte. Le porzioni abbondantissime.
Come secondo in due abbiamo ordinato un calamaro arrosto, gigantesco, e delle scarole ripassate in padella.
Il conto è stato più che onesto, con rapporto qualità-prezzo vantaggioso.
