Dolcezza Vegan di Cuscunà Temistocle — Restaurant in Catania

I’ll start by saying the food was incredible! We had a really tasty tomato/spinach pastry that honestly was the highlight of the trip. The sweets were very good too! Finding a vegan friendly place in Catania was difficult, so we were super grateful to have this as an option!

Where I can’t give 5 stars however is down to the staff. As foreign tourists with a very basic grasp of Italian we didn’t feel welcomed at all. Despite the fact the staff could understand English I was stumbling through Italian and struggling to order all while receiving dirty looks and frowns from the person I was trying to order from. When I then reverted to English they then didn’t understand what I said, but yet spoke back to me in English?!

All in all we just felt quite unwelcomed and that was a real shame as the place and the food was...

I wish there was an information in the store for foreigners saying that certain food is only available at certain times. I found it out the hard the way . Up to 11 you can only buy sweet pastries etc . From 11 you can buy savoury but everything might be sold out anyway by the time you get there lets say at 12. I wanted to stock up for my flight back home and I wasnt able to as I got there before 10 . They didn’t offer to bake me bun or two even tho they could’ve.I was there 3 days in the row. I really liked the stuffed savoury buns , donut , little pizzas were good too. Real shame is that no one tells you what’s available when...

In questo bar, ci sono andato tra ottobre 2021 e maggio 2022. Poi un'altra volta ad agosto 2022. Ho assaggiato la loro tavola calda e sono rimasto soddisfatto! Il bar si presenta come vegano, ma è anche indicato per chi, come me, mangia pure la carne o chi semplicemente ama le verdure. Le loro cipolline sono buone anche se senza prosciutto, così come anche le loro cartocciate, in particolare quella con patate e cipolle di Tropea! Buona anche la focaccia con le patate. Per non parlare della sfogliatina con patate e funghi! Da provare anche i calzoni fritti e al forno con ripieni vari. Tutto molto buono insomma!😋

Curiosità: a ottobre 2021 c'erano anche prodotti con il prosciutto, indicati per i clienti che mangiano la carne; tuttavia, nei mesi successivi non ne ho più trovati nel locale. Non saprei perché.🤷‍♂️

Il servizio al tavolo è moderno o anacronistico? Questa è una cosa che valuto da ottobre 2022 e chi ha visto il mio profilo lo sa. Il problema è che non ci ho fatto caso quando ci sono andato. Mi riferisco alla pratica sbagliata e anacronistica che molti bar e ristoranti di fare distinzione di genere per decidere quale cliente servire per primo/prima al tavolo, che viene erroneamente spacciata per "galateo". Così come è sbagliato nascondere il prezzo alle donne nel menù (cosa che fanno nei locali altolocati), è altrettanto sbagliato e disparitario fare distinzione di genere su chi servire per primo/prima al tavolo. Non ho notato se questo bar segua queste "regole" o meno, quindi non posso esprimermi. Comunque, l'ideale sarebbe servire il primo/la prima cliente che capita senza tener conto del genere di appartenenza.

Ad ogni modo, spunto di riflessione a parte, il cibo non è male e il personale è gentile. I prezzi sono nella media e la posizione è relativamente comoda, visto che si trova praticamente al centro di...
