Visited the restaurant on a very cold Saturday night. I had booked a table which was very kindly reserved for me close to the open wood fire which is in the centre of the restaurant. A warm welcome from the host, Gino.
The restaurant had a very warm atmosphere and is decorated with with beautiful fixtures and fittings, some recycled from local artefacts.
We ate the antipasti which were a bit different from the normal offerings, comprising largely of local products accompanied, by sauces and cheeses. There were some very interesting dishes including deep fried leaves, which were excellent.
Didn’t have room for a prima or seconda piatta, so finished with some ice cream and local biscuits. With a bottle of wine the bill was under €40 which was excellent value for money in my opinion.

The mixed platter starter was absolutely to be tasted to be believed. We've never had such an array of food laid before us - from the prickly pear in a tempura batter to the mini breaded wheat balls - all truly fabulous.
The staff were attentive, but not to the point of distraction, and looked after our every need.
Our son, 10, said the tomato pasta was the best he'd ever eaten, anywhere.
Ambience was wonderful, and clearly from its popularity booking is probably advised!

Il menù ha un’ampia scelta in grado di accontentare ogni palato alla ricerca di sapori veraci e della tradizione. La qualità della carne arrosto (per chi la gradisce) è altissima, le materie prime del territorio sono selezionate con estrema cura. Oltre al classico antipasto cegliese è possibile trovare buonissime e inusuali ricette come ad esempio il glicine in pastella o le pale di fico d’india e diversi tortini di verdure saporitissimi. Ampia la scelta dei vini, consigliatissimo il Negroamaro rosato biologico della Masseria Mita. I miei piatti preferiti sono le orecchiette con polpa d’olive e l’insalata di farro con verdure, frutta fresca di stagione ed una generosa grattugiata di formaggio ricotta (in foto). Gino, da sempre, è una garanzia!
This restaurant has been a point of reference for my family since I was a child. The menu has a wide choice capable of satisfying every palate in search of authentic and traditional flavours. The quality of the roast meat (for those who like it) is very high, the local raw materials are selected with extreme care. In addition to the classic Cegliese appetizer, It’s possible to find delicious and unusual recipes such as wisteria in batter or prickly pear blades and various tasty vegetable pies. The choice of wines is wide, the organic Negroamaro rosé from Masseria Mita is highly recommended.
