Giardini 36 — Restaurant in Cisternino

The restaurant is located just outside the town centre, a short walk away.

Inside the restaurant is tastefully decorated in modern style with soft lighting. We sat at the front, but there is another part to the rear which looked very cosy and intimate.

The menu is tapas style, but it also has some traditional starters and some very nice main courses. We tried one tapas and two main courses, plus we had a very nice desert. The dishes are different from the normal traditional Italian food for the region. The waiter is able to explain items of the menu in English, if you so desire.

The wine list is good with a good selection of rosés. We had a bottle recommended by the waiter which was excellent.

All in all a great experience and reasonably priced. The restaurants in Cisternino are so much better...

We had a wonderful dinner at Giardini 36! A bit off the beaten path, a perfect setting.

The people who welcomed us were incredibly kind, giving us great recommendations and offerring chalks to our daughters so they can draw on the wall. But more importantly, each dish was better than the other (with perfect wine pairings, which was super nice compared to other places who simply offered ok wine by the glass). Dishes were so tasty, wonderfully executed, with beautiful ingredients and lots of talent. We loved every bite. Even our daughter said “can we live in Italy forever?”. They also loved the yummy bread and focaccia, dipped in delicious olive oil :)

So this is truly one of the best places to eat in Puglia. There's a lot of "typical" cuisine around but it does get dull. Davide and Katia who run the place (she chef, he front man), get it. They use local, sustainable, and pickle and can everything, but her menu is always so fresh, so interesting, with tastes of Puglia without the rigidity of same same. The atmosphere is cool..nothing feels.overdone, no need for tablecloths, just great design, brilliant food and good wine. This...
