I had one of the worst dining experiences imaginable at Ai Conti in Arco. Despite its breathtaking ambiance—gorgeous medieval frescoes covering the walls and ceiling—the beauty of this place is utterly wasted on its shockingly unprofessional and, frankly, incompetent staff.
When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty, with only a large table of 16 and one other couple. Despite this, the service was painfully slow and rude. We ordered just one salad and two glasses of wine. The wine arrived almost instantly, which initially seemed promising. But after 20 minutes of waiting, our simple salad was nowhere to be seen. Frustrated, I decided to leave, and that’s when the experience went from bad to worse.
Not only were we slapped with a “coperto” (service charge) for two people—even though only one of us was eating—but we were also rudely berated by the waiter on our way out. The audacity and lack of basic customer service were appalling.
To top it all off, they charged €10 for a mere 200ml of Pinot Grigio, which is nothing short of highway robbery. The next-door restaurant served me a salad and drink within five minutes, complete with friendly, smiling staff. It’s astounding that Ai Conti, with its stunning setting, is run by such inept individuals. Avoid this place at all costs—it doesn’t matter how beautiful it is if you’re going to be treated like an inconvenience instead of a guest.
If you want to avoid overpriced wine, terrible service, and an overall insulting experience, find somewhere else to eat in Arco. This was a huge disappointment, and I will never set foot in this...
Read moreWe didn’t have a reservation, but we were helped quickly. Both the drinks and the pizza we ordered arrived very fast. The pizza was genuinely delicious: great flavor, perfectly baked crust, and plenty of sauce and toppings.
Overall, the service was very good.
Because I also read the reviews from others, I noticed a few things that could make the experience even better:
When we entered, we felt a bit lost at first. Although someone came to us after about a minute, we initially felt a bit unsure because some staff were present but didn’t greet us. The young lady who showed us to our table wasn’t particularly friendly either.
The metal plates between the dining areas make a particularly disturbing noise when walked on — and that happens about five times a minute.
The atmosphere and setting are very nice. Maybe add some background music?
Even though everyone is working hard and efficiently, a permanent smile can make such a big difference. Take the waiter who brought the drinks as an example — top service!
Treat every ‘service moment’ as an opportunity to leave the best possible impression, not just to tick off a task.
In any case, we were warmly welcomed and had a very...
Read moreAn evening like it is written in the book. It started with a warm welcome and a personal seat briefing. After barely 30 minutes of not being nagged by the staff during our conversations, we were able to take our first order. There was water. After an intensive roasting together, a personally selected 3-course menu was now ordered. As we had booked as a group, several dishes were ordered to share. First came the food of half of those present - a treat for the palate, but unfortunately the main course. Then we continued with the main courses of everyone present, without ever having seen a single starter of the three-course menu we had ordered. When we belatedly asked where the starter was, one of the several we had ordered was spontaneously delivered. The best thing: the second time, nothing came at all. The food that arrived was super tasty! The wine we brought along was also great. Great atmosphere, great evening,...
