Taverna La Botte - Pizzeria Birreria — Restaurant in Comunità della Paganella

For clarification we didn't eat here, it smelled amazing but because of the rude staff ended up leaving before even ordering. I am for that not judging the food but the staff which looking at other reviews is something that happens more often.

When we arrived it was really busy, as was told by a guy who welcomed us and said it would take about 20 minutes. We asked if we could sit outside to drink something until a table came free, he said yes and we went to sit. After 5 minutes a woman came, she asked us (already a little bit rude) what we wanted and we said drinks and then eating and she said No no drinks wait I will look for table No drinks. At the moment we tought (also because of language barriers) that she was going to arrange a table inside and call us in or something similar so we waited, still without drinks. So after 15 minutes waiting, she walked out I put up my hand and she loudly from a distance said No no wait wait no drink! This is when we understood that we were neither getting a table inside nor getting drinks to wait, we apparently just had to sit there.

A couple (italian, though I hope didn't influence) walked in just after us at the beginning they went to sit at a table inside and the guy got a beer in 1 minute, so we didn't understand the problem.

At other clients who arrived she said it would take long and that people could eat outside, this wasn't even said to us, we would have preferred inside but didn't even get the option as we only got shouted No drinks!

Had a bad experience from start to finish. I initially came to eat and drink, but the tables outside were full so I asked if I could wait for a table and have a beer. I was then told there’s no drinking until after 10 pm, and I thought he was joking, but apparently not. This bizarre exchange continued and I just left. I came back about an hour later and asked for a table to eat. A new waiter asked if I was eating or drinking and I said both. He threw his hands up and walked away, only for the same initial waiter to come over with the eating vs. drinking lecture. I said I was there to get a pizza and a beer. Honestly so much nonsense just to order. Then I was neglected for about 25 min and finally was able to order. The food was ok…most pizza in Italy is good. Then when I paid I noticed they charged me for 2 cover charges. I noticed this on the receipt after I paid, and pointed it out to the manager. I believe it was done intentionally, however she offered a small beer…I said fine. Then I was stared at by the second waiter again while I drank it out front. I’ve traveled to over 40 countries and yes there are language barriers and things get lost in translation, but I’ve rarely had such a negative experience as this. Just wanted to order drinks as we had already eaten. We were told that only drinks with food were allowed. The waitress, with short black hair said 'you must order food' no seating for just an aperitiv. The place was empty. 'You can go OUTSIDE, she said' We left. We were wondering .. how did the waitress know that we weren’t going to drink lots?? Or perhaps order food a couple of hours later?
