Disappointing Experience

With my family we recently had the pleasure of visiting Livigno, having travelled over 16,000 km from Melbourne to soak in the beauty of this charming alpine town and enjoy a meal at The Garden Restaurant While the ambience and location are delightful, our experience was marred by unprofessional service.

Specifically, our interaction with a waiter who had white hair left much to be desired. While dining with my family, he made an inappropriate comment regarding a jersey I purchased as a tourist and NOT as a supporter. Such remarks, especially in a professional setting, can greatly detract from the dining experience. It would be beneficial for the management to consider implementing a policy that encourages professionalism among staff members. If a waiter wishes to express personal opinions or make jokes, perhaps a setting outside of a restaurant would be more appropriate.

I want to commend the management for their attempts to address the situation, but unfortunately, the discomfort caused by that encounter led us to leave and seek another dining option. Food was okay, not the most interesting, but also not bad at all! The servers were kind although we had 4 different during our 40 minute feast. Also I would have preferred a bit more space between the tables - especially during COVID. However what stood out was, when we first arrived and a kind woman was trying to find us a table, someone who seemed to be the owner of the place suddenly told us we had to wait to be seated... As we already were. Then the kind woman told him we were doing so, and she was seating us, but he disregarded her, took over and just pointed towards a table in the corner. Not a positive...

Zur Vorspeise eine Zwiebelsuppe (11€)genossen, schmeckte uns sehr gut! Zum Hauptgang ein Rindsfilet mit Polenta (26€). Auch tiptop. Mir hatte es zu viele Steinpilze, dafür fehlte mir das Gemüse. Mein Partner genoss den gemischten Teller von der Hausspezialitätenkarte. Ebenfalls sehr zu empfehlen mit wildvoressen und Kalbsschnitzel mit Steinpilzen, Käse und Polenta.(17€) Preise in unterschiedlichen Bereichen. Pizzas(8-14€) waren an den Nebentischen sehr beliebt und es blieben stets leere Teller zurück. Das Personal war aufmerksam und sehr freundlich. Zu Kinder sehr hilfsbereit, da eine Kleine zusätzliche Kissen auf ihren Stuhl benötigte, damit sie über den tellerrand sehen konnte 😊

Auf Wunsch bekamen wir noch die Weinkarte. Den bestellten Wein konnte uns nicht serviert werden, da er wahrscheinlich nicht mehr an Lager war. Die Kellnerin brachte uns einen anderen. Dieser war ebenfalls für unsere Geschmäcker sehr passend zum Essen und war im gleichen Preissegment wie der erst bestellte.

Zum Desserts genossen wir frische Ananas mit Glace und eine caramelcreme. Ebenfalls zu empfehlen.

Alles in allem waren wir zufrieden und haben den Abend im gedeckten Wintergarten genossen. Draussen regnete es und der Kellner hatte die Heizstrahler angelassen, so dass die Temperaturen ende August auf einer Höhe von 1800MüM angenehm waren. Teilweise mit einem T-Shirt bekleidet, maximal mit...
