We order dinner and sparkling water. This place is trying to look exclusive and the prices are also higher. Not tall but just higher. I ordered a 'porchetta'. We got a soda stream water in a sodastream bottle, which isn't exclusive, but a sign that they are just cheap. The water wasn't sparkling which is a typical result in a soda stream if you did give enough of gas. But hey where nice a gave us a new. 2/3 of that bottle and the gas went out of the water - both bottle and glasses. A typical pretty problem for sodastream. Which is 'ok', but this place is trying to pull off being exclusive. We got a bag of different breads as starters. Dry bread - no butter or olive oil. Forgot that toy pay for this complementary, and we normally don't eat bread, but dit taste it- they took the whole thing away when we got the bill. It was our food and the didn't offer it to us. It want just a piece or two.. It was a lot of bread they wanted us to pay for and they just took it away. The 'prochetta' was not a good price of meat. It was plastered with a sause that was strongly herb. It was used to cover the bad meat. Same with the potatoes, which where really boring. No taste in them. The had maybe tried and fried the in butter and added a little spice, but it was only covering a bad potato. I felt I was eating some where it was the sause and herb was put into it and nothing else. It might have been expected for a low level restaurant and many may feel they get good food - that's up to them. I would recommend any other place in Tagnile than this place, sorry to say. I expected a better standard from what they tried to show, but it felt through. I wanted to try their coffee, but after the food I was worried I would get water that was...
Read moreWe dined at Calderone in Tignale this evening and had a mixed experience. We ordered appetizers and main courses, but unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding with our appetizer order. We had requested carpaccio, but instead, we were served a vegetarian dish. Despite the mix-up, we accepted the vegetarian option. However, it was overwhelmingly dominated by a strong cheese flavor, which wasn’t to our liking.
For the main courses, we ordered half chickens and the fish of the day. Both were served with rather bland and tasteless potatoes. The fish was breaded and tasted okay, but nothing special. The chickens were also just okay, lacking any standout flavor or seasoning.
Additionally, we were only able to get a table indoors, which we accepted as we wanted to try the restaurant. However, our table was placed close to the grill, which emitted a lot of heat, making it a rather warm and uncomfortable dining experience.
We had beer and a single drink with our meal. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not justify the 105 EUR we spent. The quality of the food fell short of our expectations, and we were left feeling...
Read moreI wish I could give it 10 stars. Food was phenomenal. We had veal and lamb and they were like galaxy in our mouths. Grilled vegetables with olive perfectly tender, didn't know they could taste like that. As aperitif we had aperol spritz (of course we had) and gin&tonic but from local manufacturers (totally different than your regular tonic). Bought 2 bottles to go. Had also tiramisu and I was so happy I didn't eat some random tiramisu in any cafe as this was probably THE tiramisu. Melting in mouth, perfectly balanced, not to sweet. Had one to share and it was more than enough. Check was 69 euros.
Also, I'm always full of delight when it comes to Italian staff in restaurant, as I didn't have any bad experiences, but here people were simply friendly and nice, treated you like a good friend, very earnestly. Also: perfectly speaking English. Humble restaurant but exceptional. A must when in Gardola and worth the drive. Thank you guys! That was precious culinary...
