For what it wants to be (a five-star restaurant), it misses the final finesse and the five-star service. Here are the details:
There was initially no one from the service crew who noticed us while waiting at the entrance. After like 2 minutes, there was no „Welcome!“ or anything like that. Obviously looking like tourists, we were asked if we have a reservation (btw: via WhatsApp only! Find the phone number on their website!) and immediately placed inside next to a wall in the back of the restaurant. The more cosy places are outside. As for one if the temperatures are good.
The food we ordered was okay, but not especially outstanding. The side salad for the beef was looking and tasting too dry. I’m certain, this was sharp edge to waste. Desert was nothing special, a citron cream with crumples. The description was sounding like they re-invented Italian dessert culture.
By and large, I would be tempted to give that restaurant 5 stars if prices would be 30% lower. But for the price paid, the food wasn’t equivalent.
Oh, and back to the service: We were left alone for like 15 minutes after placed. Then, 3 different waiters approached us at the same time. All very hectic, they all seemed very busy. After finishing dinner, it took them ages to ask for a desert, and getting the check was like us almost crying to get recognized by the waiters. If I’d be the owner, I would structure service a little better so you as a guest know, which...
Read moreOverrated! The staff were friendly if busy, even coming to eat early. Nice atmosphere, but you come to eat good food, and this and the extremely slow food service even by Italian standards, made it underwhelming and unsatisfying. I’d give it two stars, if it wasn’t for the friendly staff.
My pasta with calms was so fishy tasting and the portion was small. The calms themselves weren’t fishy, but the pasta was, which was odd. I’ve had this same pasta dish several times on this trip and this one was the worst. The €14 cheese plate was tiny! We had one twice the size in Cagliari at Sa Domu (excellent food fyi). My husband ordered steak cooked medium, it came rare, completely red throughout when he cut into it. He sent it back to cook more and it came back “almost” medium-rare, still completely red. He has worked in restaurants and knows the standards and is/speaks Italian. The Culurgiones were fine, but my kid’s fish and chips weren’t good either. The food took over an hour to come out. We have had so many meals better than this one. It was overpriced for the quality. I’m so surprised by all the great reviews!! The food is just okay at best.
The staff was very kind and friendly.. I added a star for them and...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant twice during our 9-day stay in Villasimius – and both visits were simply exceptional.
On our first evening, despite not having a reservation, we were warmly welcomed and they kindly managed to find us a table. The second time, we came prepared with a reservation – and once again, we were impressed.
The service here is truly outstanding and clearly a top priority for the staff. The team is attentive, professional, and genuinely caring.
The cuisine is of high culinary standard – refined, flavorful, and well presented. The sauces, in particular, stood out with their rich and well-balanced aromas. While the prices reflect the upscale quality of the dishes, they are absolutely justified by what you receive.
At one point, the background music was briefly a bit loud and made it difficult to hear the waiter during ordering. Without me having to say a word, they immediately turned down the volume – a small but meaningful sign of their excellent attention to detail.
In summary: Out of all the restaurants we tried during our holiday, this one was by far the best. You may pay a bit more, but you’re rewarded with first-class food and...
