Ristorante Piemonte "Da Sciolla" — Restaurant in Domodossola

Location is great. Premises too (genuine, cosy, clean). However,1) guest registration was not executed conform Italian Privacy Law; 2) large enough bathroom towels were missing; 3) we choose to have dinner in the hotel's restaurant: very slow service, not enough menu cards available and not one single wine card. We had to wait a long time until the menu card "arrived" at our table and we were suggested "a glass of wine or a bottle" without mentioning what kind of wine nor the price for a glass or a bottle (weird). When we asked the waitress for the wine menu, she dissappeared, came back without it and without any comment, some time later the hotel owner came in and handed over a bunch of loose lists which she said "were not updated". We are not troublesome travelers and kept a relaxed attitude. The next morning, when we started our breakfast at 8am, we unfortunately discovered that most delicacies were put on the breakfast buffet when we were ready with our breakfast. When it was time to pay the bill after breakfast, a specified account did not exist but a rough calculation in the head of the hotel owner was done and we were asked to pay cash (which we refused and couldn´t fulfill anyway because we didn´t have enough cash money). Being in a slight rush to the train station, I made my own "fast addition of cost for room, dinner, tourist taxes" and figured out that the requested total amount was more or less correct and paid. Amusing and confusing, but overall, very pleased with this stay in charming...

We a family of 3 had booked a double room and stopped here before our early morning train to Venice. We had intimated in advance that we would be checking in late and the hotel responded saying it wasnt an issue and that they had a 24 hr reception||||Upon reaching the hotel, there was no one available, Called them and they said that we had to wait for 15 mins and a guy will be able to help us with the check in. Staying out in the cold with a 2 year old sleeping on your shoulder inst the ideal situation but we made it work. 15 mins later, the guy appeared and showed us to our room ||||We were upgraded to a suite which had a bed, kitchen, dining and a very large bathroom. The room was clean and more than spacious. They even had coffee facilities and a great breakfast the next day. The breakfast buffet was mainly sweets like pies, tarts, custards and puddings. ||||Pros ||Spacious rooms and bath ||Towels and toiletries provided ||Coffee maker ||wonderful breakfast ||Near the train station ||Nicely furnished||||Cons ||No lift ||Wifi was spotty ||No one at the reception during our check in even though it was promised.
