Best food on the Island.
Nestled in the picturesque locale of Chia, Sardinia, Gallinelle Osteria stands out as a culinary gem that is much more than just a dining spot—it's a heartwarming experience. This family-run establishment makes you feel welcome. From the moment you step in, the top-notch service is impeccable, with every staff member ensuring your comfort and satisfaction.
The owner, a true connoisseur of flavor, takes immense pride in his culinary creations. He doesn't just serve food; he serves stories on a plate, taking the time to explain each dish with a passion that's infectious. It's not just about eating; it's about understanding and appreciating the journey from kitchen to table.
When it comes to value, Gallinelle hits the sweet spot. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions and for those with a specific craving, the flexibility to order off-menu is a testament to their commitment to please. They don't just accommodate; they delight in personalizing your meal.
Our party of four arrived without a reservation, yet they welcomed us with open arms and the utmost gentility. Despite the full house, they managed to make room for us, and the wait was sweetened with a complimentary glass of fine prosecco—a classy touch that speaks volumes about their hospitality.
Having explored both the North and South of the island, I can confidently say that no restaurant compares to Gallinelle. It was so exceptional that it became our daily retreat for the remainder of our stay in Chia.
If you find yourself in the area, consider Gallinelle a must-visit. It's not just a meal; it's an experience that will linger in your memory long after the last bite. Gallinelle is not just a restaurant; it's a celebration of Sardinian hospitality and gastronomy...

Read moreIt is true the owner seems to be a nice, talkative and charming person. But the food and service was a complete letdown. Maybe it was bad luck, maybe it was us, but we dont believe so as we travel to Italy quite frequently and also stayed in Sardinia for many times and this was by far one of the worst meals ever. We ordered several things so its not just our taste we believe. Seafood pasta: boring, tasteless tomato sauce, really not fresh tasting, frozen seafood, pasta was sticking in one piece. Pasta all ragu: completely bold, bad taste like all was frozen. Mussles: okish, but no very tasteful and rather small portion, promised cherry tomatoes in the menu card turned out to be two chunks of a cheap larger tomato. Baby squid completely tastless, served in a kind of watery nothing sauce. Honestly the best were the chicken nuggets our daughter got. Service staff spoke no english at all. We didnt get the bread basket as coperto as all the other tables. Overall a...
