La Terrazza Ristorante — Restaurant in Domus De Maria

We arrived to this restaurant because we saw that it was open until 11 pm. When we got there it was 10.15 pm and they asked if we had a reservation. We didn’t but we saw there were many tables empty. The hostess went to check and finally came back saying we could have dinner. Once we sat down a very nice gentleman offered water and welcomed us. After a few minutes we heard a man asking the rest of the team in which language we spoke and sounded a bit angry. He told us that we could only choose 3 options from the menu (but he was not kind at all). 2 seconds after the waiter came to take our order rushing us and said the kitchen was closing. When I told him I wanted the soup (because it was the only vegetarian option) he said: “but it’s a soup”. I know it’s a soup, not only did you give me only 3 options to choose from but also you’re questioning what I’m ordering. By that time I wanted to leave because the whole situation was frustrating and we did not feel welcome but we were starving. If the place was closing I would understand and I wouldn’t have come, but we went there because it specifically said they closed at 11. The food at the La Terrazza was mediocre at best. Some items I didn’t eat. We ordered a bottle of wine, but no one offered to filled our glasses after the first glass. We were not asked if we wanted more water after finishing the first bottle. I started with the veal and it tasted like lunch meat. The ravioli tasted like it was out of a can. The lamb was stringy, over cooked and cold. If you over cook something at least serve it hot. Then at the end we ask for tiramisu which was some deconstructed artsy dessert. If the whole meal was artsy I would understand the concept but the whole meal seems to be leaning toward traditional roots, so the contemporary dessert seemed out of place. 4.3 overall (4/5 food, 5/5 service, 4/5 atmosphere). As part of a 5 star resort, I thought it was good. Maybe was expecting more. Food was simple, fresh ingredients but maybe lacking a bit of fantasy or creativity that i would expect from this caliber resort.
