We came to the restaurant on a sunday looking for good food. The owner, Marco, greeted us enthusiastically and showed us the menu with great passion. As he explained the menu he told us that he only served cold food, and if we wanted to eat some classical pasta we should go someplace else. We decided to indeed go someplace else to eat classical italian food, but Marco told us if we wanted to come back, he would even open his doors early for us. We decided to go back 2 days later, and this was the best idea we’ve had the whole holiday. The restaurant only serves fresh local food, which tasted amazing! Furthermore, he gave some great recommendations for local, relatively cheap but amazingly tasting wine. Also, the terrace is a beautiful courtyard in the centre of Dongo. Read moreWe had dinner at Osteria del Bumbardin the first night we stayed at Dongo. And we were so impressed by the kitchen that we returned the second evening.
The interior is simple and the menu has local food (around 5 starters and 5 main courses plus desserts). So you can assume that everything is made freshly. Exactly what you await from a classical Osteria. Classical and local fresh food. It’s not very cheap, but price-value ratio is perfect. Every meal we had was perfect! The owner and his son (?) who mostly runs the service are both super friendly and make you feel welcome and comfortable. We would definitely...
Read moreOsteria del Bumbardin is an unexpected jewel in the small town of Dongo. It is a different experience from all other italian restaurants. The philosophy is slow-living and it stands true to this principle. The dishes are all cold served, there is no pasta or pizza. Nevertheless they are incredibly delicious and be assured you won’t leave hungry if that’s a concern of yours. Marco, who also owns the place, is a great host. He has handpicked all of the ingredients and wines on the menu and can tell you their story in an unmatched detail. Make sure to go there if you have a chance to...
