Do not be fooled by the street it's on or its outside appearance. This is one of the "hidden gems". Family owned and operated business. Filled with locals enjoying their lunch break before going back to work, small room (9 tables), easy going mood where everyone minds their business, nothing loud, nothing fancy. The food is as simple as it is excellent. Not the refined Michelin star cuisine, but simple meals made with simple and qualitative ingredients. The menu is quite expansive (and not expENsive), since most dishes are between 7€ and 13€. The caponata is excellent (and the local pride), pasta is great and the meat (veal cutlet in a buttered lemon sauce, for me) is perfectly cooked. A substantial, tasty and wholesome meal, that set us back 36€, in total, for two. Please go without expectations, be nice, open and humble, speak Italian if possible, and the owner will open up like an oyster to reveal the pearl inside. Wholeheartedly...
Read moreWhat a surprise. On the way to Palermo, we were looking for a location on Friday night. We called here and they were very kind and reserved for 10 minutes later. The interior is like in the dining room of a simple Italian family. We chose different starters and pasta courses, he told us he would care for the starters and we just need to chose the „mains“. We had different varieties of Frittata, filled Peperoni, Melanzane Al Forno, Caponata… everything was so tasty, the red housewine perfectly accompanied everything. Only the Caponata had some very sour / vinegar parts in it. The pasta was also very very good, we had fettuccine alla ragu, pasta with pistachio, but had to take some of the pasta with us as there were so many starters. Wow! A very comfy place for a dinner a la nonna. 90€ tutto completto...

Sicily is famous for its incredible food—but this little restaurant manages to raise the bar, even by Sicilian standards.
There’s nothing revolutionary on the menu—just the classics, done ridiculously well. Every bite feels like nonna personally cooked it just for you.
It’s a well dining experience tucked inside a small, cozy, totally unpretentious family-run spot. The building might look like it’s been forgotten by time (and maybe a few city inspectors), but do not be fooled.
The service? Warm and genuine. The clientele? Mostly Italians (always a good sign). The vibe? Pure, delicious magic.
Just don’t forget to reserve ahead—and when you arrive, have the courage to push that unmarked door open. Trust us: your taste buds...
