This pizza place was the sour cherry on top of a frustrating pattern we’ve experienced throughout Naples—and seemingly Italy at large. As part of a guided group trip to Vesuvius (which was great!), lunch here was included. We were a table of six—my partner and I, plus two other couples—four out of six of us people of colour. Every other table around us was white. That context matters, because what happened next wasn’t subtle.
Our table was deliberately ignored. While every other group was served, finished, and clearing plates, we were still sitting there, untouched. The waiters had to actively avoid eye contact and walk past us over and over to achieve that level of neglect. And when the food finally arrived, they tried to serve the white and male guests first—until a (white) partner intervened.
This wasn’t a slip-up. It was targeted, tired, and gross. And sadly, not unusual. If you’re a person of colour in Naples, expect to be treated as an afterthought at best, and with contempt at worst. Italy may love to market itself on history and hospitality, but it’s clear they’ve chosen to forget the deep roots and contributions of Black and brown people that helped shape that legacy.
Bottom line: the pizza was forgettable, but the racism was unforgettable. Spend your...
Read moreWe stopped by during our organised trip to Vesuvius National Park, the meal here was included in the price of the trip so we were quite sceptical what food it would be served.
The place was busy both with customers from the coach teips and individual customers but the pizza was served very quickly. As the meal included in the trip price we didn't have a full choice of what the place offers, only 3 pizzas to choose from and some drinks.
We decided for Margerita and Marinara. They were really good! I mean very good! The portions were decent, pizzas were full of flavour and fresh.
The staff were working hard to get everyone served in timely manner, they were nice and helpful.
The place is located on the way to Vesuvius National Park, there is a beautiful view out of Naples from the viewpoint, you can enjoy the scenery!
The minus was the toilet... Only two working toilets so the queue...
Read moreWe stopped here for lunch on our way up Mount Vesuvius after a morning in Pompeii. We found it easy to get a table for 4 and ordered 4 pizzas, two small margheritas for the children, then I had a pizza with smoked scamorza and yellow tomatoes - I forget the name but it was fantastic! And my OH had a lovely fresh light pizza too. The pizzas were delicious and arrived quickly, and our waiter was very kind and helpful. Prices were very reasonable too.
Our girls were delighted to meet lots of stray cats in the car park, as an aside, as the restaurant feeds them, and the views from the restaurant and the car park are amazing! Definitely recommend if you are looking for a good meal with friendly service while...
