Da Ettore — Restaurant in Florence

Top-class Italian family cooking. Organised a table of 10 at short notice for us, based on a local business recommendation for a family group (we were in Florence for a wedding, staying at various locations). Food was great, home-cooked and flavoursome. Some language difficulty but that was our fault for not speaking any Italian. Excellent value for money - and that's saying something in the Florence area! Arrived late at a nearby hotel and Googled this restaurant that is closest and reviewed to serve good food with reasonable price. The seats outside were reserved so we had to sit inside. The waiter doesn't understand English but when I asked about WiFi he gave me their password which I used for translating the menu so we could order. Busy as he was by himself the young waiter was able to graciously serve the sudden crowd from the hotel. The food was the best I had so far halfway this tour from France, Spain and Italy...

This place did not let us enter! The server came to the door and asked us if we had a reservation. It was a weekday night and the entire restaurent was empty, but they said that they cannot let us in without a reservation. I don't understand why they behaved this way ? Do they not serve tourists or people of colour? I don't understand why they wouldn't even let us enter the restaurent. But this behaviour is shocking to me. Why run a business if you don't...
