Pizzeria Orto del Cigno — Restaurant in Florence

We had a lot of expectations for this place so maybe that’s why we weren’t that impressed? First, let me say they have a beautiful garden which is why most people go to this place in summer. Very spacious, well maintained and not the type where you get eaten by mosquitos all evening. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. The only problem we had was that the pizza wasn’t to our taste. The concept of this place is about their extra large pizza which sounds appealing . Well for us, having tried loads of places in town, we thought the dough and the topping were more on the average side. It didn’t have that flavour we were seeking. The good thing is that you can have up to three different flavours on each pizza (because they are so big) and they cost €20 which is fine considering the size of it (way too big for one person beware). Sconsigliato per famiglie data la scarsa attenzione ai bisogni della clientela. Non sono presenti piatti per bimbi piccoli, abbiamo chiesto di fare una pasta al pomodoro, non è stato possibile e non ci hanno proposto nessuna alternativa ai pizzoni. Per i più grandi, dal mio punto di vista trovo molto antipatica la scelta di eliminare le birre alla spina medie dal menù, adesso sono da 33cl ma costano quanto costava prima la media. Per altro ho ordinato una media e mi hanno portato una birra da 33, ditemi voi se si può mangiare una pizza bevendo una birra da 33?

Avrei preferito avessero semplicemente alzato il prezzo anziché applicare una pratica commerciale così deprimente. In economia c'è un termine preciso che è "shrinkflation", inflazione nascosta, la cosa positiva è che generalmente una volta notata dalla clientela porta la stessa a cambiare abitudini di acquisto rivolgendosi a nuovi fornitori. Sembrerà di aver fatto una furbata ma alla lunga non pagherà. Un cliente lo avete già perso.

Aggiorno in risposta: è liberissimo di applicare le pratiche commerciali che ritiene più adatte, sono altrettanto libero di non apprezzarne quelle che ritengo, sfavorevoli per l'offerta come quella di fare pagare più la birra (può rifare il conto a paragone che ha grossolanamente sbagliato). Inoltre credo di non dover conoscere la storia dei vostri "format" come li chiama lei per dire che non avere nulla ne proporre nulla per i più piccoli non sia apprezzato da me. Godetevi questa estate di sfarzo e prezzi gonfiati che a breve tristemente il momento cambierà.

Ma alla fine sinceramente...lei pensa veramente che sia normale mangiare una pizza con una birra da 33? Seriamente non ci prendiamo in giro è un formato commerciale inadatto e senza alternative che vuol portare ad ordinare due birre anziché una pagando alla fine di più. Non mi piace proprio essere preso in giro.

Ritengo presa in giro anche il dire "tanto l'ho scritto sul menù", è ovvio che non vado via mentre sono con altra gente a cena, perché il formatO della birra non è di mio gradimento. Quindi rimango a cena ma scrivo una recensione che viene letta normalmente prima di trovarsi al tavolo con un menù...

Pizza is pizza the world over, some is inspired and some is meh. This falls somewhere in between. Nothing memorable enough to make a return visit.

Setting is wonderful, a thunderstorm was moving in while we were there so it added to the ambiance.

Service was so far below par it could barely be called “service.” From the moment we entered we felt like we were an intrusion rather than paying guests. Everything we asked for seemed to be a huge burden for the staff, from a bottle of olive oil to the bill. The restaurant wasn’t full, but our waiter disappeared never to be seen again and no one seemed to know what to do with us.

Recommend for the setting, decent pizza, but I’d skip if...
