This charming little restaurant served some very comforting, simple dishes. We started with a carafe of house wine, which was great. The shrimp risotto was creamy and cheesy, with neatly arranged shrimp. There was a good amount of lemon zest all throughout the dish. I guess the acid was meant to break up some of the heaviness of the dish. The pizza comes in thick or thin. We weren't quite sure what that meant, since the pizzas all look pretty much the same. Our server was very nice and explained that it is the crust that is thick or thin. When we asked which he recommended, he replied, "I like it thick." So of course we went with his recommendation and ordered a thick crust margherita pizza. So the pizza arrived and the edges of the crust were thick and pillowy, while the center of the pizza was still very thin. It held the tomato sauce very well. There was a smattering of basil leaves, interspersed with some thick pieces of mozzarella. The pizza was delicious, and tastes great with a drizzle of their olive oil. The risotto was nice, but nothing too exciting. I'm glad we tried a restaurant a little bit away from the center of Florence and found a gem off the beaten path.

My husband and I stumbled into Santa Lucia one night after arriving in Florence. The staff was extremely friendly and made us feel right at home. It was a local spot and we enjoyed observing as people continued to come by and say hi to the staff. We ordered the ravioli with meat sauce and a ham, red pepper and mozzarella pizza. After 10 days in Italy, including Rome, Florence and Venice, this was our favorite meal of the trip. We made sure to stop by once more before leaving town. To add another data point other reviews mentioned prices being high but we thought the price was fantastic compared to other places more easily found by tourists.

THE BEST PIZZA IN FLORENCE!! No matter where you are, make the time to go get their food. Restaurant is family owned and opporated. Wait staff is fast and friendly. The pizza from the crust, to the cheese and the sauce and toppings is hands down the best in Italy. Family owned since 1973, it is the all around great Italian restaurant experience. The house wines paired with the Marinara, Margarita, margartia buffalo, diavola, and pepperoni are the best Pizzas, but others are popular and delicious as well.

A true insider tip and one of the absolute highlights of our stay in Florence!

From the moment we walked in, we felt incredibly welcomed by the warm and multilingual team at Santa Lucia. The pizza we had was without exaggeration one of the best we’ve ever tasted – perfectly balanced, full of flavor, and made with love.

What truly made our evenings there unforgettable, though, was the wonderful atmosphere. Fabrizio, the head waiter, speaks five languages and made sure every guest felt at home. His kindness, humor, and attentiveness – together with the whole team’s hospitality – turned our dinners into cherished memories.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Santa Lucia. We’ll definitely be back on our next visit...
