We traveled to many places in Italy in three weeks (Firenze, Lazio, Umbria, Roma, Napoli, Amalfi, and Ischia) and ate at lovely restaurants in all of them, but this was the best restaurant we encountered, in a beautiful setting near Forio on the island of Ischia. It featured absolutely delicious, local food, impeccably prepared by the chef Margherita and presented by her husband Marco and daughter Anna, in the refurbished stone wine cave of an old vineyard. (All the food was excellent, but don't miss the rabbit dishes!) They were kind and generous hosts, and took the time to help us choose our dishes and select wines and liqueurs to go with our meal. It was such a magical experience that we ate there for four nights in a row (which was easy to do, as we were staying in the vacation home they run nearby on their charming property). The food was so delicious that I didn't even stop to take pictures most of the time, but I have included three here, showing the sunset from the outdoor terrace, delicious spritzes prepared by Anna using local liqueurs, and the antipasti platter. Read moreMy wife and I had the pleasure of having dinner here a few weeks ago. We had been to a few different restaurants in Ischia which were good but Ristorante Terra e Sapori was something else. We had amazing food (the best we tried in Italy over a 2 week period), much of it prepared by wood fire. Each dish was so tasty and their use of Ischian ingredients and produce has to be commended. The atmosphere was lovely as well. It is semi indoors/outdoors under a stylish pergola with loving garden surrounds. Many other restaurants on Ischia rely on views to attract people, whereas this restaurant had the ambience but above all, it was the food that made it special. I would gladly...
